What's Next?

I cannot believe how much I LOVE police academy and how HYPE everyone seems to be about the Producers coming Friday! (Thursday for early access). I went ahead decided to watch the second place winner of the last poll for next Monday: The Outsiders!

Help me pick what's up for the first Monday in August?
I think this will be a tough poll!

Comments

I agree with Kenton, let’s not bring these matters on here. Not the platform to do it. This is a place to escape real life and focus on helping a friend out in watching movies of all types for the first time.

Gio Vidrio

Just like I called out the woke/progressive race crap on the Ferris Bueller thread, can we skip the overly partisan political shots please? It'd be nice if we could have some place on the internet that doesn't devolve into people spouting off about their politics, and I think a spot where it's a young lady simply trying to enjoy watching old movies she hasn't seen would be one of the easier/better places to do that.

Kenton Kruger

Robocop is a documentary of the future of Detroit under the rule of liberals/"progressives" (used to be the most wealthy city in the world in the 1950s). Now like Chicago, SF, NYC, Baltimore, LA... turning into a garbage heap

ITPalg

Ashleigh I am excited for you. This is the movie that made John Belushi a household name and you will see why. He died at 33 after taking a speedball and sorely missed.

Mr Marvelous

Come on people let's vote for RoboCop

Matthew kahlig

Oh, I would love her to do a reaction to "Legally Blonde!" She said it was on her Valentine's list but she never reacted. Unless I missed a poll because I'm a new Patron member....Still...Another one she would love is "Murder By Death." God, that is funny. Then again, she'd miss the references but what the hell....Why not? Another one that won't be on her radar is "Summer School" with Mark Harmon of NCIS fame. It would be PERFECT for the month of August!!!

Kate Luxor

OK, here is one that I don't think is on her radar, but I know she loved Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman", so I really think "An Officer and a Gentleman" would be right up her alley.

Roger Dearnaley

Another plug for Labrynth and Dirty Dancing! Still amazed thinking back what I was allowed to watch at like 8 years old. Parents in the 80s amIright Also someone mentioned American Dreamer and I second that

I doubt anyone would vote for RoboCop 2014.

Tyler Foster

I agree with Matthew...there are more than enough scary movies jostling for position for Hallowbeans without adding a satirical graphically violent sci-fi/action picture

Paul Johnson

What's your damage Heather? Call us when the shuttle lands.

Mark Pickenheim

All of these look great. I'm hoping Hudson Hawk will make a showing. Its a guilty pleasure movie for me.

Why would RoboCop be good for hollow beans it's gory but not what I would call a horror movie

Matthew kahlig

yes i agree with that

Matthew kahlig

Escape from New York would be a good one for her

Scott Macalino

RoboCop would be good for the next HallowBeans

Ricky P Kraus

And I also think you should review it because the way humanity is treated in it

Matthew kahlig

I think you should review RoboCop next time as it is a satire transport but as some true meaning that is happening in our society even today

Matthew kahlig

Fire in particular fondness for RoboCop as it was just an unusual film for me that I watched when I was oh we taught

Matthew kahlig

Definitely with both of those I would like her to review rumble in the Bronx

Matthew kahlig

Basically anything starring George C. Scott would be a great watch here

Paul Johnson

Apparently the caps lock thing really works...THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE :)

Paul Johnson

Love "All About Eve"...would be a great introduction to Bette Davis for Ashleigh...and to Marilyn Monroe for that matter!

Paul Johnson

It's a hard poll as they are all great lol

john shepherd

More Jackie Chan movies or maybe finish up the Lethal Weapon series

Danika Silva

Silly me, I'm still waiting for Patton

Toby Lee Lauterbach

Kenneth Mars also played Inspecter Kemp from Young Frankenstein. Also, Mel Brooks voiced one the dancers.

9 to 5 (as a member pick since Ashleigh was in the play and is conflicted about doing it on Millennial Movie Monday) Terms of Endearment, American Dreamer because I love it and no one saw it. LOL and All About Eve

Louise Brooks

My wish list:

Louise Brooks

No, "RoboCop" is a must see. Period.

Manuel Johnen

They live is a pretty good cult classic movie never heard of the audition

Matthew kahlig

Yes I definitely think she should watch some of those

Matthew kahlig

My wish list UHF They Live and Audition

Mr Marvelous

My wish list Jumpin Jack flash Crocodile Dundee Young guns The last star fighter

Brett Delbridge

Heathers isn't a BAD film to be voting so low, it's just that it's so quirky a comedy, it has to be up against weaker competition to shine. And Robocop ain't "weak".

Eric Janssen

Not that anyone asked but here are them in order of how “l” would watch them 1. Animal house ( by a long mile is #1, Animal house is a class above the rest, not even close). 2. Death becomes her 3. Robo Cop. 4. Heathers.

Tough choice!! Animal House is one of my favorite movies, which you will love. BUT I ended up voting for Death Becomes Her because I want it to have a strong showing.

Melissa

All of these are great choices!! Death Becomes Her at some point would be amazing!!!

My vote is for Death Becomes Her! Solid cast and some great gags. I liked the original Robo Cop, a good action movie. Animal House is dated ( it still makes me laugh ) but worth watching for the cultural references, Berlusi's performance and the first screen roles for Karen Allen & Kevin Bacon.

old _Navy_twidget

Animal House or RoboCop will do. Is it RoboCop 1987 or 2014? Just spit shinning the blu-Ray. We can vote for more than one movie! Learn something new everyday.

Ooh! Death Becomes her is a VERY entertaining movie.

Gryff

Twiddling my thumbs and silently waiting for an great list to be genuinely happy with 🤭😏🙈

Danika Silva

Never got or liked the jokes in animal house. Death becomes her is more of a cult classic and RoboCop is a must see if you are into 80s movies.

Marcel Roberts

Death Becomes Her, because I always forget Bruce Willis is in this

There are some good mobster movies for instance the Freshman with Mathew Broderick.

I voted for Death Becomes Her, because I have not seen any other reactions for it. I would really like to see Ashleigh react to War of the Roses.

I enjoyed all 4 of these at the time. Never would have guessed it then but I think shockingly RoboCop has aged the best. Hard to know which ones Ashleigh would enjoy, I think with a couple it depends on how forgiving she's feeling that day. I do think from a film history standpoint Animal House and RoboCop are required viewing at some point, even if Animal House has aged badly.

Kenton Kruger

Definitely Robocop

I'd second HOT FUZZ.

T.J. Gengler

Chose Death Becomes Her. I like animal house but it's extremely dated I think. Heather's is pretty good too though it's a nice black comedy. Waiting for Bull Durham to show up though. Baseball movie set in the south what's some really good actors it is amazing movie.

I ended up going with Animal House because people still reference it. I never needed to see it more than once though. Death Becomes Her surprised me because no one still talks about it. Heathers came out during college and I should have loved it but it was trying too hard. In part because Christian Slater was always trying too hard. Robocop is no Terminator but it was still a very big deal.

Kristen North

Wild Things! You’ve got to react to this Bill Murray 90’s Florida noir satire - it will be classic

Joshua Reichert

The other three movies are really good, but Animal House is a classic!!!!

Keith Boyd

Robocop! "Your move creep"

Jay McIntyre

Thank goodness she had the same opinion on the gud fadah, and hopefully she will cancel any future mobster movies...

Danika Silva

So, Whoopi Goldberg didn't win one, when she replaced Nathan Lane? I can believe that.

Eric Janssen

If she does Pelham it should be the original. I saw it when it first came out and, at the time, I thought it was the most suspenseful movie ever made. The remake is OK but I thought Travolta overacted badly in it.

Bill Bevins

I’d agree that Animal House plays differently today being a 70’s comedy than an 80’s Stripes or Police Academy, but in a GOOD way: When 70’s comedy went low, it didn’t fool around, like watching Blazing Saddles’ jokes after Spaceballs. Remember, it was originally “National Lampoon’s Animal House” when it opened. 😲

Eric Janssen

And Death is so creepily misogynist at its comic premise (look, two ungracefully-aging actresses having the ultimate cat fight!), it’s been “adopted” by gay audiences and turned off the rest. I’m not sure even THIS movie still goes over with female reactors, with or without Bruce Willis.

Eric Janssen

Death Becomes Her may not be the best of these films... it may even technically be the worst? (never seen Animal House the whole way through so I have no opinion)... but I firmly believe it's the most entertaining, so I had to vote for it.

April Smith

ROBOCOP

Timothy Estrada

oofff.. Animal House huh? One of the few movies I didn't like back then.

Eugene Lawson

We need to get her started on the world of Luc Beson as well... Leon, Fifth element, Big blue etc.

Aniara

Coolness. RE: Outsiders, hope it was the complete novel edition. It’s got better music and extra scenes that give more background to the story

C. A.

I voted for Animal House( I can remember me and a couple of friends sneaking in through the fire exit in the theater to see it when I was 11 lol) and Robocop (which is a very fun movie)...and now my shameless plugs for "Apocalypto", "Breakdown"(with KURT RUSSELL!!), "Marathon Man" and "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three"!

Paul Johnson

Animal house is "rapey," but Revenge of the Nerds is flat out rape.

John Williams

Animal house is rapey. Very inappropriate for today. Didn’t age well.

Jill Peterson

Geez you make these polls hard!

Steven A Martinez

Heathers is one of my all time favorites. Gaging on your reactions to Brrakfast club and Ferris, you might not like it.

Robert Gruhn

I feel like the more comedies you watch in the next few days the more opportunity to throw a sad or scary one your way, so my vote goes to Animal House. That movie is like one of the staples for raunchy comedy today.

Gio Vidrio

You can forget about Godfather Part II since she hated the first one.

Roger Dearnaley

All the warnings received about Blazing Saddles being inappropriate actually apply to Animal House.

Michael Buhl

Do you think will give it 5 out of 5 stars or zero point zero stars?

Tim Gilbert

Put My Cousin Vinny on your list!!!

Future suggestions: Citizen Kane Vertigo Lawrence of Arabia Godfather Part II High Noon Rear Window Sunset Blvd. On The Waterfront Once Upon a Time in the West North By Northwest 2001: A Space Odyssey

Adolfo Acosta

I very much agree.

Super Dave

I voted for Animal House because it's the only one I own on DVD, so I wouldn't have to shell out anything to watch along. Then I thought, oh, I'd better mention that a lot of bits in the movie don't really hold up in the 21st century. Then I thought, oh, god, actually a *ton* of this movie doesn't hold up. So I'm voting for Robocop.

Kevin Mowery

All of these are good choices. I think Death Becomes Her would be right up your alley.

Super excited for The Outsiders.

a Funny Thing after Dick Shawn replaced Zero Mostel, and he was great! (Shawn is the guy who plays the wacked-out actor “LSD” in “Producers.”

Joseph Stevenson

Saying Animal House isn't as funny as Police Academy is like saying the Wright Brother's first plane didn't go as far as the Space Shuttle. lol

Thane Greyhaven

I saw the original run of

Joseph Stevenson

Go and watch "Heathers"... those four movies are all great, but "RoboCop" is the best.

Manuel Johnen

Dirty Dancing would be a wonderful end of summer movie.

Now that you've met Zero Mostel you should watch the excellent film adaptation of "A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," in which Zero reprises his Tony Award-winning role, Pseudolus. Even if you don't post a reaction you should watch it on your own time. Broadway trivia: four actors have won a Tony for playing Pseudolus: Zero in 1963; Phil Silvers in the 1972 revival; Nathan Lane in the 1995 revival; and the one most people forget, Jason Alexander in the 1989 musical "Jerome Robbins' Broadway."

Elliot Nesterman

Yes.

Tyler Foster

Based on previous experience with remakes, I'm going to assume this is the original version of The Producers?

Andy H.

Please put Paul on your list if you don't have it on there yet.

Ken - Kendo161

I voted for Death Becomes Her. I saw RoboCop in the theater when it came out eons ago but I won’t give away my reaction. I don’t want to spoiler it.

So you’re saying Animal House is perfect for Ashleigh.

Kill Bill? Hot Fuzz?

Tiger Chu

Wish people would quit saying "Ashleigh won't like movie XXX" because it presets her expectation. If she reads the comment, she might go into the movie thinking "what's wrong with it". She might try to have an open mind but saying she won't like it will give her a negative preconceived notion even if it's subconscious. Hard to predict what she would like anyway. She has disliked some classics and loved some turkeys.

Bill Bevins

If you don't pick Animal House, we will have to put you on "Double Secret Probation", a little known codicil of the Ashleigh fans constitution.....

Roger Dearnaley

Hoping Dirty Dancing makes the list soon… No one puts Dirty Dancing in the corner 😂🤣

melinda wilson

Robocop: I’d buy that for a dollar! It has action, satire, humor, pathos and great visuals. While mainly an action film, it makes me cry in some spots. Your move, Ashleigh.

Gordon Davis

Oh, and before the summer ends, we should really watch Summer Rental.

Thomas Ivie

“Death Becomes Her”, but “Robocop” would be great too!

Tara M. Wilcoxon

I voted for

Tara M. Wilcoxon

None of these really get me stoked, but really looking forward to The Outsiders and The Producers. Death Becomes Her will be fun, and like The Gawdfader, Animal House is one of those iconic films you need to see regardless, so as always, I'll be tuned in no matter which of these 4 gets the green light.

Tony Williams

Animal House!

Wesley Eskildsen

There is no bad choice in this poll. Just going with my favorite- Animal House.

Angela Munoz

Voted for Death Becomes Her. Animal House or Robocop would be fine too. Never saw Heather's. Death Becomes Her was just so funny, I think Ashleigh will really like it. Animal House is a classic and influenced a whole bunch of movies.

Bill Bevins

Animal House is a classic, but much like Revenge of the Nerds, it feels just creepy in parts these days.

Joseph Ricks

Can’t wait for The Producers! I love Animal House and it’s definitely a movie you should watch, because it’s iconic. I’m just not sure how much you’ll like it. I know you’ll like Robocop, though.

Michael Waldrep

As much as I love Death Becomes Her and Robocop, my votes for Animal House, keeping in tone with Police Academy.

David Rincon

The 2005 is a film of the musical, not really comparable. Also, it's not an especially successful adaptation of the stage original. Some movie musicals adapted from the stage are successful, My Fair Lady and The Music Man to name two, but too often the movie doesn't do the stage production justice; I'm thinking especially of Camelot and Finian's Rainbow.

Elliot Nesterman

Those are all great movies. Hard to choose from. Good luck!

Stoney Hardaway

Heyy I sent you a message about august's reaction!

Ashleigh Burton

Sacrilege to some but, Animal House isn't as funny as Police Academy. The rest are worthwhile watches. I can't see you enjoying Outsiders much. Question is, WHEN are you gonna watch Train To Busan !?!

PieHard13

Which version of The Producers are you watching? I assume the original with Gene Wilder but I personally prefer the new one with Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane and Uma Thurman.

Nick of Time

"Animal House" is a riot! Just crazy. Hopefully, you'll like because I like it!

Kate Luxor

Yaas! Death Becomes Her is funny and fabulous!

Nessa Arandur

Oh “Animal House” for sure!!

Nick of Time

You have the right to... watch "RoboCop". Your move, creep...!

Manuel Johnen

Good on you for watching THE OUTSIDERS. It's a bit of a marmite film that people either love or hate. All I can say is that it works for me. Many thanks.

T.J. Gengler

Robocop! It was filmed in Dallas, and I watched part of it being filmed. (just an aside there...)

Mark Finley

Animal house is an over-rated piece of crap fuel by misbehaving men's wet dreams. Both Heathers and Death Becomes Her are good, but are dark and should be saved for Hallow-Beans. This leaves Robocop, and while violent, has some great acting and a chicken-pig-robot.

Thane Greyhaven

I watched Infinity war and endgame this week, and CAN'T WAIT for her to get there

Mark Finley

Robocop. I have a feeling you may not like Animal House very much.

Barry Hammock

I don’t know but I’m ready for the next MCU watch along.

I haven't really done any sequels since BTTF or Harrison Ford

Ashleigh Burton

If you’re looking for laughs and shock value then Animal House all the way!

Jose Rivera

While 'Heathers' is great, I think that it might be more something for Hollow-beans or the like.... because it is kind of dark for a movie in Summer. Just my $.02US. Thus the vote for 'Animal House'. .

Carl Sage

Robo cop all the way

Vicky phillips

Robocop is a good choice. I would love to see Animal House but it is slow in some areas - to me. Either one will be great but I went with Murphy.

MrBamaRed

Do yourself a favor and watch Police Academy 2. I like it even better than the first, plus it features a large Bobcat!

Thomas Ivie

Oooh, I'm rooting for either Death Becomes Her or Robocop. Wildly different movies, but absolutely great ones in my opinion.

Jennifer

Oh this is a hard one.... What? No Police Academy 2?

Moni Castaneda

Animal House”with “Robocop” a very close second.

Richard Meyer

Same - "Animal House" is still funny to me, but the humor definitely...the humor aged, the situations didn't!

Christopher Lee O'Brien

Happily voted robocop

ingibingi2000

It's definitely coming!

Ashleigh Burton

😂😂😂

Ashleigh Burton

My wife will love you forever if you do Heathers!

That's a great question - I'll add it on for August!

Ashleigh Burton

Top Gun should eventually be in a poll :)

Tuff McAwesome

Would be interesting if you think Animal House aged well. I tried to show it to my way too young for me gf and she hated it. She did love Heathers so that's why I voted for that.

Bill Staley

Toga! Toga!

M four Movies

If Heathers doesn’t win I will lost my shit lol

Alexis Callagan

All so good! I look forward to any/all of them! ❤️ I’d buy that for a dollar!

James Rose

When is terminator going to make the polls?

ingibingi2000

Go Robo!
