Comments

I'm hoping to see "Apocalypto" pop up sometime

Paul Johnson

If Ashleigh were willing to try another film with subtitles I'm sure she'd enjoy "Amélie." Though as it was released in 2001 I suppose it's a bit late.

Elliot Nesterman

1000% agree!!

Louise Brooks

It won't win, but based on her response to Steel Magnolias, I guarantee she would love the shit out of Fried Green Tomatoes.

Midge

Smokey & The Bandit!

And if she finds Tarantino confusing, violent, hyper-unfocused and insufferably "quirky", will you sit quietly then?

Eric Janssen

Based on her Godfather review, I don't think there's much of a chance that she would be able to follow the plot of Chinatown.

Birdie Num Num

That woman lived a good ass life! 89 years is a triumph! Her soul will probably enter Ashleigh’s like Sam did for Oda Mae Brown and give us more sassy true-smart ass vibes. 🙏🏼🙌🏼

Gio Vidrio

Just saw the news that the wonderful Olympia Dukakis, who played Clairee in "Steel Magnolias" and won an Oscar for her role as Rose Castorini in "Moonstruck," has passed away at the age of 89. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/olympia-dukakis-dead-dies-oscar-winner-moonstruck-1234964478/

Elliot Nesterman

When is the next unboxing? Stoked to see Ashleigh begin to delve into Tarantino.

Terri Vineyard

If she's getting the AMC classic - esque treatment, any interest out there in her seeing Chinatown?

AM

Meatballs is great!

Mo Vetta

Love that movie...I grew up with the US version "Godzilla King of the Monsters" with Raymond Burr added in but the original Japanese cut is also great...the final rampage through Tokyo in my opinion still remains the best "giant monster rampages through city" sequence ever filmed

Paul Johnson

The next Bill Murray movie has to be Stripes, but after that, please put his first starring role, 1979's Meatballs, on the list.

JHB

Can anyone watch a Wes Anderson movie seriously after those SNL parodies?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfDIAZCwHQE )

Eric Janssen

Don't know if anyone's suggested it yet but would be interesting to see what you thought about a Wes Anderson film. Bill Murray has a role in almost all of them. They're very stylized, and either you love his aesthetic or you hate it. Bottle Rocket is his first and I absolutely love that one. The others that stand out to me are The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, and Moonlight Kingdom.

Laura Neary Smith

Pulp Fiction is movie history.

Daniel Örtoft

Judging from the poll now, you're going to enjoy Stripes, but I have the feeling Pulp Fiction is going to be a bit much for you. It's a good film, but it is C R A Z Y.

Gryff

Only one vote - Stripes, it's to only one I'm interested in.

Ford Prefect

Also for Mother’s Day I suggest Stepmom. It’s a really good movie

Jason Nunez

Shadow Kingpin (don't ask me why that name) has been reacting to classic films others have not considered, because he trained as a cinematographer. He's done several Fellini films, some Kurosawa (not Seven Samurai as he'd already seen that), a few Bergmans, and other world cinema classics, as well as more recent American movies. I was surprised that he had never seen Citizen Kane as it is a foundational film of advanced cinematography.

Elliot Nesterman

It’s Pulp Fiction. I was just saying it can be a difficult movie to enjoy and watch. I love it now but it had to grow on me. Quentin has his quirks and it shows in his movies.

Jason Nunez

O Brother Where Art Thou is an excellent movie!!

Aaron Collett

There has been around 85% of reaction channels that have been doing the same movies and music videos for the past year or more, but I've noticed that there were two reactors that were different, one is a youngster from Canada and the other is a media student...

Danika Silva

That makes total sense!

Ashleigh Burton

On the list I only voted for stripes...which I vaguely am a fan of...I try not to vote on anything I don't like or haven't seen myself

Danika Silva

If you see something on the polls - it will stay there until it wins :)

Ashleigh Burton

Never Heard of it!

Ashleigh Burton

That's because they're Millennials, and have only SEEN the same things over and over--Here, I'll demonstrate: “Let’s do a musical!"…“Oo! We need to see Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman, Hamilton, and Little Shop of Horrors!” (See what the rest of us are up against?)

Eric Janssen

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Stand By Me, Stardust (2007), O Brother Where Art Thou

Keri Parmeter

Again, errbody is watching and reacting to the exact same thing...I just wish other patreon members would have the courage to branch out and explore other possibilities

Danika Silva

I didn't hate it but was not my jam.

Laura Neary Smith

Stripes, Fried Green Tomatoes, Pulp Fiction, Casablanca. I just could never get into Casablanca. It insists upon itself.

Autumn Bough

I absolutely hated pulp fiction. So hard to watch.

Vicky phillips

Is it safe?

old _Navy_twidget

Well this is an especially long thread. .perfect time for a shameless plug lol....I think "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" or "Marathon Man" would be worth a look...2 great suspense films with a 19 70s New York City vibe

Paul Johnson

I honestly hope you'll get to each of these at some point. All classics in their own right. But I truly believe you'll love Fried Green Tomatoes, and Stripes, especially. 🙂

Jessica Asakevich

Call them out. Ashleigh will get to them.

Gio Vidrio

I was bullied for my opinion so I deleted it. Enjoy the Pulp Fiction. It’s ok. If it keeps happening I’ll say something to her.

Jason Nunez

I’ve seen all four, most multiple times. This is a very weird choice/vote.

AmyGENX

Is this the place for suggestions? I suggest Cabaret.

Nikolaos Michaelides

Unless it's Christmas, and then It's a Wonderful Life gets shoved down everyone's throats. Call it annual Holiday Hypocrisy.

Eric Janssen

I've never seen a pre-70s black and white movie, no matter how well regarded, win a poll when mixed in with more modern stuff.

Ken

LOL... I forgot that we can choose more than one myself, so I imagine there are some who are not aware they can make more than one vote. Just a guess of course.

Tony Williams

Return to Oz, as well. Nightmare Fuel: The Movie.

JayWantsACat

I think given the sheer volume of 80's fantasy movies, dedicating a month to them might be a fun thing to do. Legend, The Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, Flash Gordon, The Last Unicorn, and of course, Labyrinth.

How does this have 407 votes when you are asked to pick two?? I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!!!!

Fargo is such a cool movie. The Book of Eli is quite good also. The Rocketeer is just a really fun movie.

Bill Bevins

I still recomend the original Godzilla movie

Rose

Put another shrimp on the barbie and watch Crocodile Dundee. Great movie.

Bill Bevins

exactly, and after seeing the love she had for steel magnolias i think this would be a fantastic choice!

"Pulp Fiction" is a good movie, but I never understood why the whole planet went crazy about it back then...

Manuel Johnen

All about Fried Green Tomatoes! A classic for sure!

Ullatec

Yeah. I recommend My Girl also. Ashleigh would love Jamie Lee Curtis, and Maculley Culkin! I would say Anna Chlumpski but no one knows her! Haha except for that movie

Fatty Boombatty

These are good movies, but no YouTuber is going to take your whole playlist and do reactions to them all down the line. Ashleigh gets stuff in the mail, and $100 level requests. It’s best to make suggestions— one or two movies at a time. Maybe start your own reaction or review channel, bro.

Fatty Boombatty

She should watch "Love Exposure", that one is four hours long and in Japanese with subtitles... XD

Manuel Johnen

But it will stay on the polls for a while even if it doesn't win!

Ashleigh Burton

Well after not giving it some love last week I decided to vote for Fried Green Tomatoes. Clearly it won’t win, but if it’s Tarantino then great!

Gio Vidrio

My Girl would be a great one, one of my favorite movies still tugs at my emotional heartstrings even at 33, cast away, pretty woman, money pit, jurassic park ,singing in the rain, dead poets society, titanic(i would love to watch her complain about a 4 hour movie)

It's bad enough that we have a generation that thinks Bob Clark is a genius, but I refuse to live in a world whose cultural amnesia thinks Hal Needham's Smokey and Cannonball are "underappreciated classics"...

Eric Janssen

Why is Legend (1985) never mentioned? (Or at least I've never seen it mentioned). It's a CLASSIC 80's movie. Some others I think should be seen are: • The Last Starfighter (1984) • The Neverending Story (bring lots of tissue) • Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971) • The Count of Monte Cristo (Either one, but I prefer the one with Jim Caviezel) • Logan's Run • The Wiz (1978) • Dragonslayer (1981)(Had the BEST dragon for decades!) • Conan The Barbarian (1982) • The Dark Crystal (1982) • TRON (1982) • Krull (1983) • Dune (1984) • Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) • Enemy Mine (1985) • Labyrinth (1986) • Short Circuit (1986) • Predator (1987) • Robocop (1987) • Roxanne (1987)(One of Steve Martin's best and a great retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac!) • The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) • Beetlejuice (1988) • Good Morning Vietnam (1987) • Crocodile Dundee (1986) • Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure(1989) All of these are great movies! Classics one and all! :D More of course came out in the 90's, *cough*HuntForRedOctober*cough* but that should be enough to last for a while. lol

Thane Greyhaven

Pulp Fiction was a one-hit wonder you had to be in the 90's to appreciate. Casablanca is a CLASSIC.

Eric Janssen

Pulp Fiction and fried green tomatoes have my vote. I know you’ll love fried green tomatoes. No love for Stripes though here

Alexis Callagan

Yeah, it's fun. I don't recommend the sequel, though. Too bad they never actually made "Dundee", a third movie that was teased in fake trailers and a Super Bowl ad. It looked amazing.

Thomas Yanez

I voted Stripes, because Pulp Fiction is hugely overrated and I haven't seen the other two.

iamrman82

Yes! By Grabthar’s hammer

Fatty Boombatty

Has anyone ever suggested Galaxy Quest?

Jam that James

A few suggested movies: Fargo Sling Blade The Book Of Eli Napoleon Dynamite A Few Good Men The Fugitive The Rocketeer August Rush

Kevin Townsend

I agree with John Ryan of the "Smokey and the Bandit" before "Cannonball Run." *Sheriff Buford T. Justice is a character modern times truly needs.

Vincent

Such a great movie!

Lynnetta

We do need some Tom Hanks on this channel! I've been wanting Money Pit since the beginning :)

Lynnetta

Gotta check out who framed roger rabbit

stephen phillips

If anyone wants to suggest Sidekicks w/ Chuck Norris. I'm pretty sure I sent that one in. also more Tom Hanks love Joe vs. Volcano You've Got Mail Cast Away Saving Private Ryan

Nicholas & Heather

Crocodile Dundee is ridiculously likeable. On every level, that's an excellent suggestion.

Mark Kelso

American Graffiti 👍👍

Celeste Collins

And Casablanca isn't quoted? :|

old _Navy_twidget

Voted for "Stripes", "Pulp Fiction" is overrated to me. Oh, and no where as near as good as "Ernest Scared Stupid". (Running gag folks. She WILL watch it.... (eventually)).

William Wall

Or, maybe not!

Thomas Yanez

Good suggestion for Ashleigh! Also Moonstruck and Overboard (classic)

Fatty Boombatty

Fiddler on the Roof. And Willy Wonka is due as well since somebody bought her a big honking anniversary box (I’d like to see opened on camera).

Fatty Boombatty

Gutted, what happened to starwars prequels? Oh well, I'm sure you'll get round to them eventually. 💗🇬🇧😁👍

Mandy Sherratt

Now I’m Australian.🇦🇺 G’day. I want no I demand!! Crocodile Dundee on the next poll.

Brett Delbridge

It would be cool if people understood that setting expectations like this is an insidious form of spoiler.

Thomas Yanez

I really think you would like Working Girl (1988). It's got Harrison Ford and Sigourney Weaver! :)

Carl L. Atkinson Jr.

Those are also reasons why I'm voting for Casablanca... 🙂

Tyler Foster

I really think Ashleigh will like Casablanca. It has a great story and the acting is wonderful. Ingrid Bergman is luminous and, as stated in "When Harry Met Sally", it has one of the best last lines of a movie ever. This film was one everyone involved with it thought was just another war film. It didn't even have an ending when it was being filmed and it ended up winning best picture. I also voted for Stripes because Bill Murray, one of Ashleigh's future husbands, is in it.

Cristina Collins-Armstrong

And "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Kill Bill Vol 1", Kill Bill Vol 2"

Mark Dunham

Or... from the perspective of her "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World" reaction, it could just be more of the same, but this time in a drama.

Thomas Yanez

uhh I think everyone recognizes Casablanca as one of the GOAT, but keep in mind we're voting for what we think Ashleigh will like the most and what would garner the better reaction.

powerofdusk

PULP FICTION!! A great crash course into the world of Tarantino.

Karen S

Casablanca! I'm shocked, shocked to find so few recognize what a great movie it is. It's a shame it will never garner the votes it need. ;(

old _Navy_twidget

Pulp Fiction. It's classic Tarantino and in my top 10 of all time. (2 other Tarantino movies are in there too, Hateful Eight and Inglorious Bastards)

Pulp Fiction all the way

Michael Johnson

I think you need some musicals, so I suggest Little Shop of Horrors and Hello Dolly.

Crimson Possum

My best friend growing up was an extra in Fried Green Tomatoes in a funeral scene. Too bad it was cut from the movie. Therefore I can't vote for it out of spite!

Thomas Ivie

The Truman Show please. Thank you.

Jerrod Acree

😂😂😂😂 love it

Ashleigh Burton

I'm open to anything! :D

Ashleigh Burton

And as long as there is interest - I'll keep it on the poll! :)

Ashleigh Burton

I have to go with Stripes on this one, Fried Green Tomatoes is my second choice because Kathy Bates has the greatest one-liner a car driver can have in a grocery store parking lot! ( that's all I can say about that lol) Also I have to drop another hint for Hudson Hawk again... LOL....

Pulp Fiction is on the list? Getting into some interesting film territory :)

AM

My vote is based on how I expect her reaction to be and how I think it will help the channel grow. Pulp Fiction it is. I still remember seeing it in the theater when it was first released. So incredibly quotable and a mandatory rewatch to put the timeline more in order. It’s the movie that made Travolta relevant again.

INTERESTING.

Ashleigh Burton

Well y'all know how I feel about Bill and John

Ashleigh Burton

😂😂

Ashleigh Burton

Casablanca will stay on the polls for a while :)

Ashleigh Burton

Never heard of it!

Ashleigh Burton

Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time. Great writing. Great acting. I will continue to vote for it till it wins.

Adolfo Acosta

If you end up watching "Pulp Fiction", know up front that the film is non-linear, that is that scenes aren't necessarily in chronological order.

Michael 'Shine on You crazy Diamonds!' Hudson

Three reasons to watch Stripes. Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and John Candy.

"Casablanca" all the way... fuck "Fried Green Tomatoes"... :)

Manuel Johnen

Don't blame me. In the '90s and early 2000s, whenever it would play at a revival theater, I'd treat a couple of my younger employees--and later my own son--to introduce them to it. They'd go in whining about it being black & white and every single time they'd come out quoting the dialogue and saying it might be the best movie they've ever seen! Every. Single. Time! :P

Steven

Agree! It's one of those films that truly changed how movies were written and made.

Christopher Lee O'Brien

Voted for Stripes and Casablanca. Would love to see more old classics reacted to.

Bill Bevins

Cannonball Run!

Vincent

I can't wait to see what wins!!

Ashleigh Burton

It'll stay on the polls for a while so it might come through!

Ashleigh Burton

AHH! I can't wait to see what wins!

Ashleigh Burton

It will be on the polls :)

Ashleigh Burton

Too many younger people have never seen Casablanca they don't know how good it is.

Wesley Eskildsen

Damn, I have to vote for Stripes just because it HAS to be watched by Ashleigh, but I believe she will possibly love Fried Green Maters even more. AND of course we all need to see her reaction to Pulp Fiction. Casablanca is a great film, but I just don't think she will enjoy it near as much as the other 3.

Tony Williams

Killing me, one of the greatest films ever made, Casablanca, can't get off dead center. Romance, suspense, even a bit of adventure. Combined with the stellar cinematography and musical score, for pure entertainment there's really no film I'd put firmly above it.

I only voted for Stripes because...well, yeah, I want Stripes. I can't choose between the other three. Casablanca is a classic. Pulp Fiction will be a fun reaction, I do think Ashleigh will love Fried Green Tomatoes.

Kenton Kruger

I love Stripes but seriously want to see your reaction to Pulp Fiction.

Jennifer Rigney

I am always going to choose Casablanca. It is my favorite film
