Texas blackouts
Added 2021-02-18 03:12:41 +0000 UTCHey yall, managed to finally get a semi stable supply of power and internet. In case yall didn't know, I e in south Texas, and if you've been watching the news you might know a freak winter storm crippled our poorly designed and managed electrical grid, resulting in mass blackouts across every major city, mine included. We're basically an island right now, living in freezing temps with little to no power.
Sooooo that said, power should slowly return to normal after this weekend and I can get back to work. Just know yalls support has allowed me to buy some vital supplies like non-perishable food, candles, etc. As soon as I'm able to work again I'll get you guys back π

o/ Greetings from Dallas! Welcome to the club! Having been through these, hurricanes and other events around the US, I'm going to recommend you build an Emergency Kit (assuming you don't already have one) with some essentials in it as these things happen from time to time (though I agree the power situation is a bit annoying... too much dependence on Windmills and poor planning. Heads should roll as a result.). Mine consists of 3 days of food, water, flashlights, batteries, Mylar blankets and such. Helps prevent being caught flat-footed and is a good general practice. Do what you can and keep warm. Hollar if you need anything from up this way.

2021-02-18 05:30:12 +0000 UTCStay safe, donβt leave the house unless it's necessary and if you do have to go somewhere take your time. Your destination will be there even if it takes longer to get there.

2021-02-18 05:08:46 +0000 UTCi did not know you live in texas... stay safe! tip from a friend up north is keep a blanket around at all times... if a piece of furniture is cold to the touch you drape the blanket over it... if the room is cold you wrap the blanket around you and make a cacoon to preserve heat... if the floor is too cold you can lay the blanket on the floor to warm your feet up so they dont hurt and you can get to a desk area

2021-02-18 03:22:54 +0000 UTCI'm in SA too, this shit fucking blows. The far west side is slowly getting longer chunks of power, still not permanent tho.

2021-02-18 03:22:25 +0000 UTCYou too huh? The majority of San Antonio has been out of power. I noticed some buildings have had power but most are just completely out of it. I had trouble finding somewhere to get food the first day when it went out
