Silent Night, Deadly Night 4mentary: Initiation

“With all that tinsel on your tree, why don’t you cut out the middle man and burn your own house down?” - Eric on Christmas decorations

On this spooktacular commentary track, we're talking about the absolutely wild FOUR-OR sequel, Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation! How delightfully deranged is Clint Howard in this movie? Why does our hero accept Maud's invitation to that weird picnic? How about that Christmastime spontaneous human combustion, huh? Why would Kim eat those loose dates that have been left out sitting on a used bookstore's counter for who knows how long? And has there been a dirtier apartment in horror cinema? PLUS: How about those fantastic opening credits?

Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation stars Neith Hunter, Tommy Hinkley, Hugh Fink, Reggie Bannister, Allyce Beasley, Glen Chin, Maud Adams, Jeanne Bates, and Clint Howard as Ricky; directed by Brian Yuzna.

If you're watching along with our track (which we encourage, it's fun!) and you have to restart for whatever reason, we start the movie at 00:00:05 into the film and the commentary starts at the 00:06:34 point on this track.

Thanks for being the kick-ass Patreon subscriber that you are! We know you have a lot of options when you're watching stuff, and we're stoked you decided to sync up with us for this movie!

“Bitch you live like this” had me so fucking dead! ily guys lol <3 also this movie was beyond disgusting and deeply triggered my roach fear so thanks for that haha

Nathalie Pena

Upped my Patreon tier specifically to enjoy this commentary this weekend. Well that and to hear you all talk about "It's Beginning to Look A Lot like Murder" lol Thanks for making my December a bit merrier. :)

To answer your question: a witch is called a witch no matter what gender . Warlock is actually a misnomer. It means liar or oathbreaker. Also witch covens are unisex. We all hang together

Jeremy-Alice

Yeah, let's get that going!

Evan

My mom thought that the action movie silent night 2023 was a remake of the first one and I didn't have the heart to tell her.

Mark D Myers

And I thought I was in for a nice little holiday slasher.

Jonathan

When you introduce a date in the first act, it better show up in the third act.

William K. Wolfrum

Even minus the bugs, that is one of the grossest-looking plates of spaghetti I've seen in a movie.

Z

He was also a producer on Pulp Fiction! - Andrew

We Hate Movies

Hell yeah! - Andrew

We Hate Movies

I normally just listen to the commentaries without watching the movie, but the number of “What the fuck?!”s on this one makes me think I should actually watch it.

Craig

I slept with a coworker and now we’ve been married for 5 years

Kenzie Scott

I'll bite. One ticket for Snorementary please!

TDB

I ate through the whole thing. Mainly dates.

Ray

Come on, reanimator is a classic

Ray

"This lady is a menace" 🤣🤣 I was about to fall asleep during the first bookstore scene (too many drugs) until we get to the spaghetti hand. And then I was all in.

Ray

What the fuck did I just watch? No more Yuzna please

andy

I also reckon it's inherently harder to organise since all four of them have to be able to watch and riff the movie simultaneously as opposed to other episodes where they can individually watch the movies whenever it's convenient.

profondo robbo

I feel like Ari Aster watched this when writing Hereditary

Rod

I've only been on the upper patreon levels for the first time this month so I'm a pig in shit with these commentaries and dont want them to end. Cant wait to get to Die Hard but hard agree, would definitely make a worthwhile tier for more commentaries.

Gregory Baffuto

Wow that’s the ending ?! That Clint Howard scene was fucking disgusting enough where I instinctively looked away and blocked my face a little. This movie didn’t have the license to go that far. But that may have been the best commentary yet, absolutely hysterical and fun, right up there with CHUDD.

RJ Cunningham

“Why’d they leave audition footage” when Clint Howard is bumming down the street got me for a cackle right off the bat Also expected a “SNORE SNORE SNORE” chant when discussing the Snore-mentary

RJ Cunningham

I think a copyright lawyer would shoot for both, which is why I would suggest something public domain.

Mark Ibarra

One of only a handful of WHM commentaries where I absolutely own the movie (Vestron put out a Blu-ray collection of parts 3, 4, and 5 last year and I inexplicably said "yes, please add to my cart right now"). Really looking forward to watching with the commentary either today or tomorrow. Bravo to the WHM crew for a totally fun and across-the-board hilarious theme month!!

Busiris

Yuzna's Faust: Love of the Damned needs to be next Halloween's commentary.

CharlesGrodin'sToupee

I’ve slept with a co-worker; that’s a supposedly fun thing I’ll never do again.

Brandon

I assume they couldn't actually show the movie because of copyright, but maybe I'm wrong, since I know that different groups have done that for live events and sold tickets. Is moment considered internet distribution or a live event, legally?

JohnG

Bring back those types of credit sequences

Daryl Williams

They actually did this on YouTube a few years ago with Can't Hardly Wait.

profondo robbo

I wonder if they could pull off a Moment commentary / watch party? In fairness, it sounds like potential chaos, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. To make it easy across the board it would probably have to be a public domain film.

Mark Ibarra

at last a new commentary. I wish I knew what I could do to get more of these. I've synced up all the other ones to the movies and created my own files with the commentary added, and watched many of them many times. The die hard one I could probably do half the guys lines in that one. I would pay $50 a month for a new tier that had more of them. I have no interest in the melrose stuff or gleep glops or too old for this or even star trek now that it's the animated series on there, but I love these commentary tracks, and would love to have more.

JohnG

Hell of a month, gentlemen; not that I'm surprised. A FourLoko toast to your fourtitude.

Mark Ibarra

The E.P, Richard Gladstein is the new chairperson of my graduate school. Love to see it.

Gino Volpe

Just a heads up. Probably best to watch this one on an empty stomach.
