WHM - Hannibal

This month, on the patrons-only We HATE Movies selection, the guys are flipping the script to present an episode on the Rotten Rid extravaganza, Hannibal! Why doesn’t Lecter chow down on a single person in this “bigger and better” sequel? Couldn’t they have found anyone more appropriate to direct the film? And why not give us a little more with these Sardinian pig guys? PLUS: Mason Verger, huge Deadhead!

Hannibal stars Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Frankie Faison, Giancarlo Giannini, Zeljko Ivan, and the late, great Ray Liotta as Paul Krendler; directed by Ridley Scott.

Thanks so much for supporting We Hate Movies on Patreon! Be sure to spread the word, your support is what keeps the lights on around here!

I second this

Jen

The thing with eating the brains of humans is prions

Knut Farstad

Any episode that makes nu metal references gets an automatic 10/10

Janie B

Is there any way the Hannibal series would ever be on the table? Or if not the whole series, one part of the series? I have a love/hate relationship with that show. I'd love to hear your takes on it.

Lynne Olson

They gotta do scream 5 that was awful

Em G

I love this movie.

Peter Reynoso

Hannibal Lector in What about Bob lol my insides hurt

Mike Kling

the Type O bit hahahahhahahahahah

DMAC

Medici 3 seasons on Netflix lol

In answer to your question about why Verger is paralyzed, the novel explicitly describes how Mason Verger became disfigured. While Verger is demonstrating auto-erotic asphyxiation, Lecter breaks his neck while he's still in the noose, paralyzing him. The movie shows this scene in a flashback with Gary Oldman.

John King

Listening to this helps fill the clay-roasted-thigh-shaped hole left in my heart from the show

Vicky I

Masterful incorporation of Sublime AND 311 in the same 30 seconds

Darcy MacDonald

Scientifically speaking, the amount of energy you'd get from eating someone isn't even worth the trouble.

Eren Keskin

Doesn't he do that in the tv show as well?

Eren Keskin

I love this movie whilst simultaneously acknowledging that anyone who hates it is absolutely correct.

Kate Lampe

I remember seeing this in San Francisco in 2001 and falling asleep.

James

May god bless your soul.

James

I saw Hannibal and Saving Silverman on the same day.

Mike Kling

I wish the Sardinian Pig Boys and their three little pigs, and duck, could make cameos on other WHM shows.

Jason

i remember my parents renting this and stopping it like 30 minutes in when they realized Jodie Foster wasn't gonna be in it

Bill Baloney

As ridiculous as Mason Verger is in the movie he is even more of a freakshow in the book. At one point he makes a kid (a black kid, of course) cry, then uses gauze to soak up his tears so he can flavor a martini with it.

Michael Daniels

Eric and Chris were on Blank Check talking about Manhunter, is that what you remember?

Michael Daniels

This movie turns him into Hannibal LECTURE. *taps cards on desk*

Matt

I know it doesn't exist, but I vividly remember an episode you guys did on The Silence of the Lambs.

Jeremy F

Unexpected use of "bean dinner" in this episode. Bravo Eric

Brian Cardin

Wow. It's been a while since I laughed out loud on the bus but the Slovenian pig boy impersonations got me good.

G. T. Blackwell

I skipped school to see this movie because I was excited by the book. Saw it three times in theaters, and now I remember the audience reaction more fondly than the film. Top tier content, TY!

Matthew Kennedy

Royal Tenenbaums WLM and Hannibal WHM in the same week... Suck it work, I'm busy

Watch_N_Rewatch

Not even started the episode yet, but already laughing at the thought of the Mason Verger impressions 😂

Christopher Bruce

It blows and I will watch it whenever it’s on
