Moral dilemma

Dear patrons, I want to ask your advice.

Today, one of my patrons informed me that the actress who played Lady Dimitrescu had passed away and urged me to respect her.

This news saddened me very much, and I feel very uncomfortable drawing this character in depraved poses.

On the other hand, I am not drawing an actress who is no longer with us. I am drawing a character from the game.

In my drawings, I change this character's facial features, which can be perceived as cosplay.

I am overwhelmed with conflicting emotions. I do not want to offend the young actress's bright memory who left this world so early.

Please express your opinion, what should I do?

A- You must not draw Lady Dimitrescu anymore.

B- This is a fictional character from the game. You can draw her provided that you change
      his facial features.

do what floats your boat

I will do so, thank you, Robert👍

A character is a character and a person is a person, and some people can't tell fiction from non-fiction. That said, do what you do best, artwork. If you want to acknowledge the actress and her passing do so, either as a tribute or as a caption to the artwork. Thanks for the art.

I absolutely agree with you, thanks for your feedback👍

As others pointed out, do what makes you feel good. That being said, Lady Dimitrescu is a virtual character, nothing more nothing less. You are not publicly portraying yours (and ours) sexual fantasies about a living person without consent, its a 3d model, a bunch of triangles that look like something real but isn't. There is nothing wrong you are doing and you shouldn't feel uncomfortable.

Filip Zemljak

Oh yeah, I have the same feelings. Video game characters, often become Internet memes and elements of mass culture. And they become popular even among those who are not interested in games. In any case, they give us more opportunities to get cool depraved drawings

Rino99

my perspective, I'm not at all a gamer, I don't know an xbox from an A-hole. I'm into comics & I'm into good lewd drawings. so I don't really care. but it's kind of peculiar following the lewds scene and see these same totally unknown to me characters show up in these waves.

dddstenzel

You're right, Draven- Thank you! 👍

Well the fact that the woman who did the voice of Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo passed away some time ago and that didn't stop or even slow down the amount of pictures drawn of her out there since it's not the actual person being drawn should give you an idea of what most of us mean.. That being said I agree with others here in saying as long as YOU are not being pushed into doing something you do not feel comfortable or enjoyable doing then I don't see the problem. Always do what you feel best since it is your art friend. 😁👍

Draven Shadow

There was a misunderstanding, the actress who played one of the daughters of Lady Dimitrescu died. I don't see any problem with Lady Dimitrescu. Thanks for the words of support, my friend.👍

Rino99

I can understand your dilemma. However, stopping to draw her at all would be a sad thing. You could opt for taking a break from drawing this character in a lewd scenery for a limited time, as a token of respect to the actress having passed away. As others have already pointed out, this is a fictional character which has been given "life" by the voice / motion-capturing / what-so-ever of an actress and not the actress herself.

Thank you very much for the words of support!👍

Yes, it is. Lady Dimitrescu has already become an internet meme.

Resident Evil Village: the actress who gives life to Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters dies https://freegametips.com/resident-evil-village-the-actress-who-gives-life-to-lady-dimitrescus-daughters-dies/ I will draw Lady Dimitrescu as planned, this should not offend anyone

Rino99

I agree with you. I am drawing a character, not a person. It was important for me to know the opinion of my patrons.

Rino99

Yes, I checked all the data again and came to the same conclusion. Thank you for your comments!

Rino99

Got your point, thank you!

Rino99

I agree with you, thanks👍

Ok, Thank you for your comment.

And I didn't wanna come off as complaining to him, it's just that before I read your comment, I thought it was very uncomfortable, especially with Dino's art which is very kinky. I just wanted her to be respected out of respect to the lady who passed away. But it wasn't her. Thank you for informing me about this. I should actually read the articles and not just the head lines

Dom Ryan

Oh. I didn't know that sorry. I just had multiple articles on my Facebook timeline about it, but never really read them. I just saw the picture of the character and the lady cosplaying as her.... So I put two and two together... My bad bro

Dom Ryan

You are creating art, which will keep the Character's memory alive.

R_Gre

It was the actress who portrayed one of her daughters that passed away. You shouldn't feel any guilt for creating art of the characters. Especially since the person in question who came to you with this complaint is 100% in the wrong.

Zen

not to be rude but it wasnt she who designed the giant oversexualized vampire lady she voiced, im fairly certain that if she knew the internet she was well aware what kind of fan art and parodies that character design would spawn

Camel

Seconded, I checked and the actress for Lady has not been revealed.

Shelby

Hmmm maybe you could draw her in sexual positions, but not over the top like dark kinks... Make it look consensual. I am sorry that I saddened you about her new news, but it is something that had to be said... Pretty much don't degrade her bro :)

Dom Ryan

Exactly, one of the daughters died, not the actress Lady Dimitrescu

Angel Ortuño

Also, just my two cents: you are drawing a character, not a person. It would be morally questionable if you draw Daisy Riley raped by two soldiers in a building elevator. It is perfectly good to draw Rei raped by two strormtroopers in a Star Destroyer elevator. Well, at least, perfectly good as long as you like hentai ryona artwork, but that's beside the point. You are not disrespecting the living, breathing, people who play the role. You are simply playing "cowboy and indians, porn version" with imaginary character. That is why I think you shouldn't change the face of the characters involved: they're characters and must look like them, IMHO. All this said, it is your art and you shouldn't ask us. It is NEVER, EVER right to force someone to do something he or she isn't comfortable to do. You should simply decide, let us know of your decision, and go on with it, knowing that you'll gain some Patreon, lose some, or both.

Only a euphoric Yes is a Yes - you know the answer...

Hanna

Not to be "that guy", but I believe there has been a misunderstanging. As far as I know and found online, yes, an actress in Resident Evil Village died the 24th of January, but she portrayed one of the DAUGHTERS of Lady Dimitrescu. Her name was Jeanette Maus. I'll look around more, but for now no mention of other RE:V actress dead.

Bernardo Tacchini

Honestly, I don't think this is something to vote on. Whether you feel comfortable drawing her is something only you can answer for yourself. personally, I'm ambivalent.

Javaman

Death is never a bad thing. It happens to us all. Art is art. The game was finished and its fantastic. The character she plays is still with us. I don’t think she would mind if artist still kept her Legacy alive. Even if it’s lewd.
