Book of the Dead Map

Been sitting on this for a while now, but I thought I should finally share.

We have a map of the Western Province in which Tyron has been doing his stomping.

Huge shoutout to the dedication and persistence of editor and contributor Mr Gravelord for making the map and putting up with my endless delays!

In book 1, chapter 41, Rogil is described as "the only survivor of his first group after the Illica rift to the west broke". Later on in that chapter Rogil says that the break was "close enough to the capital that they were able to arrive fairly quickly and throw back the worst of it". Both of those conversations were near Woodsedge. However, now that we've got a map we can see that the Illica rift probably wasn't to the west of Woodsedge (as you can't go very far west from Woodsedge before reaching the Barrier mountains), and if it was to the west then it certainly wouldn't have been near the capital. That's the disadvantage of having a map - people like me can whine when the map doesn't perfectly align with the text :P

Is this going to be released on Royal Road? I'm hoping so.

It seems weird that the keeps are at the borders of the province. The keeps aren’t for border defense so much as easy proximity to breaches, right? Why are all the breaches on the borders of the province? I’d expect population centers to be closer to breaches since they’re significant sources of ‘natural’ resources, and maybe even governmental borders determined in large part by clusters of breaches. It seems weird that they’re all so close to the border is all.

Creating hanging skeleton models for doctors? Interior decorations for goths? He could show her some bow and arrow shit to see he is just a harmless crafter. :P

no it's not to scale to that degree

could have been he was a cannibal or providing for cannibals, or feeding some illegal monsters of some kinds, or extracting materials from them for alchemical or other more macabre uses

With the number of bodies he was buying, anybody would realize he's a necromancer. A few one time can be explained away, but twenty per month...

Asking specifically for bones sounds risky. There were a multitude of reasons corpses might be used. But bones narrows that down a bit

That’s nice context. I think in a recent chapter Kenmore was described as a city of 6 million and, if true, must cover an enormously larger footprint than these villages of hundreds of residents. This map must not be representative of scale in that sense.

where is the Ortan Estate?
