2024-09-12 01:52:36 +0000 UTCI completely understand your point about not applying human morality to non-human characters and I think it's more fun to enjoy these characters in all their toxicity. HOWEVER, to be devil's advocate I offer this perspective - these immoral characters all USED to be human and despite now being inhuman, all their motivations are rooted in human emotions and needs. And human beings do the exact same things they do when given the opportunity. I think vampires just feel everything multiplied by 10 and I can understand how that shouldn't make them beyond human morals.

A lot of the best writing in the show is taken directly from Anne Rice's novels and I love that they did that. Also, I love that you seem to be seeing all the nuances with the characters. Some people watch it and straight away see Lestat as evil and Louis as an innocent little angel. But the beauty of the show is that all the characters are so complex and capable of both immense cruelty and sincere love. A fact that should be clear from the start is that Lestat does love Louis. He's not just being manipulative or abusive, he truly loves him. He wants Louis to embrace himself fully instead of feeling so much shame and trying to hide who he is. His actions and his character is very very different from Louis' and that causes some issues. Can't wait to see how you feel about them as the story progresses.

As I've grown older, I have days like that, just want the crap of this life to be gone. Reminds me of what John Coffey says in the movie "The Green Mile". I do love your comments, eager to continue this vampire journey with you.

As for me, this TV series is by far better than any movie version about vampires I've ever seen. Yes, it is a wild ride and it gets better and better with each episode. Anderson and Reid do a fine job! I'm eager for season 3 next year.
