Life Update - Work and 110 changes

Hey guys

Thanks for your patience as always, things are moving forwards. For those that saw what I briefly posted up on here about what I've been through, thankfully the fucked times are almost over and life's back to 'normal'.

I'm working for James at his garage now (@superninjaspeed on Instagram) which has already proven to be super valuable. He's used to building racecars and an expert in engine rebuilding, suspension, track setup etc. I've been throwing ideas at him all the time about Project Sleeper and getting some really good feedback.

Appreciate these are still ideas and not much has actually happened yet in reality, money's a bit tight at the moment but not for much longer thankfully now I'm able to work.

Anyway, I've been talking to Rich and you can expect great things in time. He's been really busy too and I'm coming up with a way to accelerate our vid production which has been historically mega slow.

Onto the 110...

I've been looking to really nail the basics - Engine, Suspension and Braking.

Braking

IRB Developments do a big brake kit that suits 16" wheels. It's expensive at about £3k but seems the best available. Check out how big the discs are and the fact they're proper ones mounted on a bell and not standard LR types.

Definitely something I'm looking into in the future, funds allowing.

Engine

I'm going for a water-to-air setup now, it's going to be awesome and should provide all the boost cooling and turbo response we need. The heat exchangers from Luci Brujan/ Unlimited Fabrications and was on a Y61 with a 606 before he changed to a Merc v8. The biggest benefit is it'll leave the engine radiator unblocked and allow proper cooling.

It's more complicated needing an electric water pump, heat exchanger, radiator, reservoir tank and hosing but I think it's the better option. The only major potential downside is the slight possibility of water getting into the intake air if the heat exchanger core splits in the future; will have to check it now and then.

Suspension

James at Coombe Workshop is an ex-GTR mechanic and suspension specialist. He's offered to sell me his twin-shock Koni setup which should make the 110 very planted on the road. Usually used for really demanding offroad conditions, twin shocks basically work half as hard as a single.

Till next time!
