It's funny but also sad (a Halo experience)
Added 2022-12-08 19:55:13 +0000 UTCThe Halo Master Chief collection was updated yet again, and that broke my fix for Halo 3 OSDT. It took some rummaging through the game code to locate the previously targeted function, and the broken state was definitely not my fault, as the area indeed had a new function in place, making it impossible to have predicted it.
After I addressed that, I noticed that the intro FMV was not affected. I messed with the code and searched further for what feels like two or more hours, but then it hit me that maybe there's not a lot of video? I then went into the game folder and found that indeed, there is only one Bik video used in the game, which is the scrolling intro text lasting one minute.
Realizing that was entertaining but also sad at the same time. So much time wasted! It's definitely not worth digging further and coming up with complex calculations. Even if I did, who knows what's going to happen in the future? The game takes about 7 hours to complete and the cropped one minute video can probably be watched as is, or in the folder or online.
Ideally, I should have had notes on this, and I often do make notes to remember facts about my findings, but you can't keep track of everything!
