Vagabonds Chapter 6
Added 2022-07-17 13:01:02 +0000 UTCSo, we’re now at chapter 6 and here’s where I tried to sprinkle a little mystery and action after 5 chapters of bureaucratic arguments. I had always intended for Chara to be something more than just a caretaker, and I figured I could explore my own views on augmentation through her and people like her. After all, science fiction (at least stuff I’ve read/watched, the biggest augmentation/transhumanism show I’ve seen is Ghost in the Shell and I don’t see it talking on the physical sensation that much) seems to talk more about the ramifications of metal on the soul, rather than its physical tole. After all, by then it’s assumed that the cybernetics fit fine into people.
But if I could pull a jack out of my neck, I’d feel weirded out.
This is touched on more with Frank in another chapter, having gone so far into augmentations that, despite having a fleshy brain, he’s become more robotic without having sensations of touch, smell, or even taste. Chara doesn’t have this issue, obviously, but it’s stuff I think about a lot.
The action here is…ok, I think? To be honest, whenever I read stories, my brain sometimes glosses over descriptions and actions, preferring to reimagine them in my head unless it’s a super relevant thing. This is why I think my own descriptions and actions are difficult to write. Though I’m probably more descriptive in fight scenes than I am about sex scenes in my erotica.
