(WARNING: GRAPHIC) Let's Help the Voiceless

It's time we let you know what we've been planning.

As many of you know, we recently completed a tour of EU and UK. For most of us, including me, it was our first time stepping out of India. And we were amazed - the structures, the landscapes, the food, the pace, the people, the obedience of traffic (if you've been to India, you know what I'm talking about lol). But what impressed us the most was the absolute absence of homeless animals

I soon learnt that in the west, almost all animals that live in the cities are taken care of and their populations kept under control. There is an amazing adoption culture and animals are treated very well. This is something I have the utmost respect for. Gandhi himself stated -

"The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. "

Unfortunately, things here are quite the opposite. You will find a homeless animal everywhere you look. Dogs, cats, cows, donkeys - all struggle to survive the concrete jungles of Indian cities like our hometown - New Delhi. Accidents, diseases and starvation are a very common sight. While it may all seem very barbaric, there is very little you can expect from the government of a country that ranks 102 on the global hunger index.

However, even in such hopeless conditions, there exist heroes amongst us. Let me introduce you to one such group:

The Posh Foundation

The Posh Foundation is a very active local NGO that cares for the homeless animals in our area. They have a shelter where they treat and rehabilitate ailing and abandoned animals. Additionally, the also help put recovered dogs up for adoption. They attend to dozens of cases on a daily basis. I'm attaching the three most recent posts from their Facebook page so that you can get an idea of what their job looks like:

-- WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT AHEAD --

It saddens me to say that though these might be graphic for you, these sights are more than commonplace for us. This is the reason why their work is very important, and why we decided to do what we're going to:

-----------------------------

-----------------------------

The Posh Foundation shelter needs an animal ambulance - and we are going to help fund it.

-----------------------------

-----------------------------

I have been in touch with Nidhi from the foundation. She told me their previous ambulance is no longer in a working condition. Here's what it looks like right now:

Here's a quotation she sent me that she got for a new van (amounts in INR):

She also told me that the ambulance attended at least 15 rescue calls per day.

Given that the vehicle will last at least 5 years on road, the new ambulance would potentially help save 27,375 homeless animals.

WHY are we helping The Posh Foundation specifically?

They are genuine, and they are in need. There are many other NGOs that operate in India but The Posh Foundation is the closest to us to help. For anyone who wants to do further research into them, please visit:

WHY are we doing this?

This ties closely with our next song. and we hate just singing about things and not doing anything to actually help. Also, this is something that is very personal to me due to things that happened to my dog Simba who passed away about 10 years ago. I've been haunted ever since and in a way, I'm putting an end to a very old demon.

What do we need from you?

Nothing more than your continued support. We have already saved up for the ambulance from our tour earnings and some savings.

HOW is this related to our music?

Our next song talks about an innately human character - grieving. It's written in a very conversational tone - talking directly to the person lost and letting them know that even though they may be gone physically, they are with us always in spirit. It's a song that says "thank you for being with me" rather than "I'm so sad that you're gone".   Even though the song and lyrics are universally applicable, we wanted to help anyone going through the utterly dark and disabling feeling of losing an animal friend.

That's about it for now. We are half-way into the song and I'm sure I speak for the rest when I say that we're VERY excited to do this and cannot wait to hear what you think! PLEASE let us know, your support means the world to us!

P.S. - We're gonna get the Bloodywood elephant logo painted on the ambulance. How cool is that? :D

Tons of love,

Karan

The baby goat birth and the doggy from Machi Bhasad have new context. What happened to the baby goat? Did he/she survive?
