3.26.24 Progress Update
Added 2024-03-26 17:23:25 +0000 UTCHello!
This video shows off our new buoyancy system! Our character can now properly bob with the waves when they're at the surface! From a coding perspective, this was trickier than it might sound... We can't simply lock the character's position to the surface of the wave mesh; there has to be some lag and delay, to convey a sense of mass. To do this we sample several points around the character to get an idea of the surface's current angle and incoming wave direction, then we slowly (over time) adjust our character's vertical position to try to match it. After a lot of fine-tuning, I think it's looking pretty good.
There is also a second video attached showing the current state of lighting/waves/clouds during sunset. (Both videos will be uploaded directly to the Discord channel also)
A lot of work is still being done to bring the animation system back up to par. I'm doing a lot of upgrades to the system to take advantage of UE5's newer features, most importantly allowing the animation updates to run multi-threaded.
Hope you all have a great week!

2024-06-16 07:50:33 +0000 UTCI just saw the trailer for this on YT and this is a concept I'm 100% on board with. Hence my choosing to support this. However I'm a tad worried. The trailer said you got the assets from epic. Is this going to be another epic exclusive until the contract runs out ? Or is this going to be released to steam? Like it's a pretty huge consensus now that gamers are sick of epic. I get devs get a huge chunk of $ and help towards making their games. But still.
