Companion idea...

So I have an idea for a semi-permanent companion/minion NPC, and I'd appreciate some community feedback and brainstorming. Here are some bullet points of my ideas thus far:

Nix is a small octopus that you'd meet very early in the story.
All Mercuan octopii are sentient and can communicate with the Mer telepathically.
Nix remains attached to you while you're swimming, but detaches during combat and while idle. (see attached photo for reference)
Nix will be an important part of the combat system and have their own skill tree.
Combat abilities: releasing ink clouds to blind enemies, intercepting projectiles, grappling enemies, etc.
Will offer a lot of commentary and exposition during your adventure, meaning they'd probably have the most voiced lines of any character in the game.

If you've played Bioshock Infinite, I'm picturing Nix kind of functioning like Elizabeth in that game. Feel free to comment below (or in Discord) with any ideas regarding Nix abilities, backstory, and quest ideas. If you're not a fan of the idea in general, let me know that also!
