State of the Archive Address (1/2025) (+ Annex Posts)

No new Archive (per se) this week. Instead, here's the latest update on the, well, soap opera that my life has become in recent years.

In lieu of a new (regular) video, here are a few new nuggets for the Archive Annex channel:

WROC (then-NBC - Rochester, NY) Prime Time Ad Breaks (Wed. 12/30/1987) - http://youtu.be/Hndex3N-434 (NOTE: This has already appeared on archive.org (see http://archive.org/details/scared-sexless-wroc-then-nbc-wed-12-30-1987-for-archivedotorg ) complete with the main program)

And, from the Betacam stash...

World Alpine '89 Ski Championship (assorted B-Roll & Behind The Scenes footage) (KMGH - Denver, CO) – http://youtu.be/TPSfN49ypaw

World Alpine '89 Ski Championship (Vail, CO) Promo (KMGH – Denver, CO – early 1989) – http://youtu.be/3OBAWIXr-ic

Next week should be the first Ben's Junk of 2025.

You and your family are in my thoughts. Please don't push yourself too much to get OA out. If taking a break from OA, whether an occasional week off or a longer break, would let you catch your breath and take care of yourself as well as your family, please don't hesitate. If having OA to work on is helpful in giving you something else to focus on sometimes, I can understand that too. Do whatever is best for you, as well as your family.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Please do what you need to do for yourself and your family.

Keep on keepin' on Ben. I've got a sense of what you've been going through with my mom who died in November at 87. My sister and I did the caretaking for the last 18 months along with hospice and private home health. My sister--a former nurse--did most of the work and was getting so burned out we decided to get her into a nursing home, but she died just days before she was to be admitted. Good wishes to you for the new year and please take care of your own health as best you can.

Again, I'm so sorry for what you and your family are going through. I know there's no good way for this to end, but hopefully you'll get some relief soon. Hope you're feeling better soon, and are able to beat that cold/bronchitis. Take care.

(Commenting separately because it just didn't seem right to add this to my previous comment.) I can relate to not being a morning person and having to adjust to getting up early in the morning. Due to buget cuts, I was assigned to a different location for my job. I used to get up at 7 AM. Since September, I start work at 7 AM. I'm not gonna lie- I curse the powers that be whenever my alarm goes off at 5:30 AM.

As always, my heart goes out to you and your mom and dad, and you are in my thoughts. I wish there was more I could do. Thank you for continuing to be open and honest with us about your situation. I'm sure that it is difficult and painful to do so. I hope the new year brings you health, calm, and strength.

I hate to hear the slow deteriorating of your father. Dimentia is, in my opinion, is one of the worst ways to die. It robs you of yourself. When the time comes to shut down the archive, for however long, know my support and admiration of the work you have done, will never waver. Take care.

Thanks for the update Ben. I absolutely get what you are going through. Sadly I lost my grandmother two months ago due to dementia along with other health issues. Overall I hope that you and your family have a happy new year and that you stay strong for each other.
