"Why, it's WILBUR!"
Added 2019-06-30 02:42:00 +0000 UTCHey, guys! Just recently, I've been honored to do film clean-up on a George Pal Puppetoon, Wilbur the Lion (1947), one of the last in the series. This is something of a rarity, since the original negatives seem to be missing (or worst case, deteriorated) and Paramount has no 35mm materials in their archives. Luckily, animator Mark Kausler loaned his 35mm Technicolor release print to use in a Blu-Ray compilation of George Pal's stop-motion films. Thankfully, this title was not as difficult to clean up as many of the others. I would be more than happy to post a "before/after" comparison, but I might need to ask permission first, since the collection is licensed by Paramount.
Some of you may have heard that I will only be posting on Cartoon Research in an intermittent basis. There are some articles that are in the process of being rewritten, because in some cases, new information needs to be added. My profile on animator/comic book artist Bob Wickersham (1910-1962) will be posted in the next few days, but will only be exclusive to those in the $3 range or higher. Keep on the look-out!
