Dawn and Reincarnation Part 49
Added 2021-01-26 09:50:16 +0000 UTCFiona felt her disbelief grow as her uncle or at least the person that looked like a younger version of her uncle finished explaining that they'd basically been ripped out of their timeline and stranded in a version of the past. "Let me get this straight, you're saying that our parents are barely older than us and we're stuck in the nineties?"
"No clue who your parents are but yeah, you're stuck in the nineties," Puck replied with a shrug.
Fiona glanced between Ginny and Puck then focused on Puck. "If this is a prank, I'm going to get revenge or at least borrow one of Mum's books and hit you with it until my morale improves."
"Your morale? You're a bit violent aren't you?" Puck asked in amusement.
Fiona snorted. "That's probably your fault."
"How is that his fault?" Ginny asked.
Fiona smirked at Ginny. "My name is Fiona Potter, my mother is Rose Potter and my father is Hermione Granger, three guesses whose hair she used for the polyjuice to knock Rose up and the first two don't count."
"In other words, we're related?" Puck asked, more than a little disappointed because she was an attractive girl that could sing. Of course, he was already dating Celeste and Nova Black so it was probably just as well.
"Yep," Fiona replied with amusement.
"Can we get some names for the rest of you?" Ginny asked.
"Helena Lovegood, daughter of Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom, completely accidental and no they weren't married," the blonde girl that looked a lot like Luna offered.
"Roxy Weasley, daughter of George and Katie Weasley," the girl that had asked about screwing Ginny earlier said with a grin.
'Yeah, I'm never telling Mum about this,' Ginny thought, fairly sure she'd be taking Roxy up on her offer regardless.
"Gwen Creevey, Colin Creevey and Lavender Brown, no they weren't married and yes I like photography," the mousy haired thirteen year old said.
"Rayne Tonks, Dora and Rose Potter via polyjuice," one of the girls said as her previously brown hair changed to blue.
"Elsie Biggs, muggleborn," Elsie offered.
The red haired girl shrugged when Puck and Ginny looked at her. "Ivy Rose Potter, my Mum is Tara Potter or at least was, no clue on the father. Since there's no point in working on school work until we figure out where we're going and pick up new wands, do you want to show us around the island before you fuck us silly?"
"Where can I get a camera?" Gwen asked when she spotted a couple of guys and girls walking past the group.
"We can check the computer lab along the way," Ginny said as she started walking towards the computer area, figuring they'd know where to find a camera.
"If nothing else, we can have someone buy you one the next time they do a supply run," Puck assured the girl. "What houses did everyone end up in?"
"Gryffindor," Rayne replied absently as they followed along, trying not to freak out about losing most of her family.

"As much as I'd like to, I can't help you directly," Luna admitted as she studied the Kryptonian blueprint she'd created when she scanned Kara.
"Why not?" Lena asked, before Kara could demand answers.
Luna put the blueprint in her blueprint case and let her case vanish. "Because my Kryptonian blueprint doesn't have any cultural data and Kryptonians cost an insane amount of mana and require exotic material to create that I don't have."
"You didn't get any cultural data?" Dawn asked in surprise.
"Sorry, Builders have specialties, mine is magic and magical beasts. I could make an entire flight of dragons for less than creating one Kryptonian. What did you get?" Luna asked, curious what the new Builder had picked up.
Dawn glanced over her blueprints. "I got templates for Kryptonian Survivors, Students and members of her clan as well as a hero pattern."
"Which means you probably know a fair amount about Kryptonians. You might be able to get something useful with a combination of Kryptonian survivors and students, assuming you can get the exotic material you need."
Dawn glanced at Lena, fairly sure a Luthor would have a good idea where to find Kryptonite. "That shouldn't be a problem."
Luna glanced over at the large metal ring she could see in the distance. "Speaking of cheating, what do you think would happen if you sent Kara through the giant ring?"
'That sounds like a good way to end up fighting super villains or Darkseid if we get really unlucky. Of course, with the right mental framework I might be able to get scans of other Kryptonians or aliens,' Dawn mused. "That depends, it might create a pocket dimension where she's saving the world with her future children or it might create some of her future villains."
"Pocket worlds?" Lena asked, wondering what she'd find.
Kara shook her head. "Kryptonians aren't biologically compatible with humans."
"No but they are with Daxamites," J'onn pointed out.
"What's the point of seeing something, just to lose it?" Kara asked, knowing it would break her heart to see visions of 'future' children she'd never have.
Dawn shrugged. "Nothing says you can't take your children or other Kryptonians out of the pocket dimension."
Kara felt her world spin as she tried to imagine what her children might be like. "I could take them with me?"
"Risks?" Lena asked, knowing her friend wasn't thinking things through.
"Yeah, you can take people out of the pocket dimension." Dawn turned to look at Lena. "Honestly? She's a hero, there's a decent chance that she might get dropped into a fight that she's not ready for."
"Can we go with her?" J'onn asked.
"It's probably a good idea," Dawn said, thinking about some of the things Supergirl had fought in the comics.
"I can't ask you to do that," Kara argued.
"You're not asking, I'm volunteering. Besides, we might be able to get a heads up about possible threats, right?" J'onn asked, looking at Dawn.
"It's possible, just remember that the future isn't set in stone," Dawn warned him.
"How does the ring work?" Lena asked.
"Magic," Dawn replied, grinning when the scientist rolled her eyes. "You basically just step through the ring and you end up in a pocket dimension sized adventure. The first person to go through sets it though you can have more than one person contribute if you hold hands or if you're quick enough. The pocket dimension will collapse once everyone from 'outside' leaves."
"In other words, rescue everyone you want to keep first," Luna suggested.
"Shouldn't we rescue everyone?" Kara asked, not sure why they thought she'd leave people to die.
"You can if you want but everyone in the pocket dimension is basically an echo of someone that could have existed or exists in an alternate world. None of them are real until you take them through the exit portal," Dawn explained, fairly sure that Kara wouldn't believe her.
"I should be able to tell," J'onn offered, trying to reassure her as Dawn seemed sincere.
"When do we start?" Kara asked, wanting to try before she lost her nerve.
"No time like the present," Dawn said as she started walking towards the ring, trying to remember the various comic villains that might show up. 'With any luck, we won't have to deal with Darkseid or Mongol. Worst case, I toss Kara back through the portal and I shadow teleport to anyone that needs to be recruited.'
"You realize this is risky, right?" Kara asked Lena as they walked over.
"You might need a scientist," Lena pointed out. "We're in this together."
"Thank you," Kara said, hoping she wasn't on a fool's errand.
J'onn glanced at Luna as they walked towards the large ring. "Did you get anything when you scanned me?"
"Just a Green Martian blueprint, I didn't get any cultural data," Luna replied with a shrug. "Of course, you're telepathic so that's probably less important."
Dawn stopped in front of the ring and turned to look at Kara. "You should grab Lena's hand and walk through, a technical problem is probably better than a fight for the first attempt."
Kara turned to look at Lena. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Lena grabbed Kara's hand. "I'm not made of spun glass, I'll survive."
Dawn used her contractor power and loaned Lena as much durability as she could, figuring it would help against the random aliens or high tech weapons Supergirl normally dealt with in the comics. "We'll be right behind you. Best case, your daughters end up exhibitionists and strippers, worst case, accountants," she teased.
"Ready?" Kara asked, trying not to picture her future daughters as strippers.
"Ready," Lena agreed then stepped through the ring with Kara. She froze in surprise when she found herself in a room that looked like a makeshift hospital with an unfamiliar and yet vaguely familiar girl lying in a bed with glowing green veins visible under her skin and several very obvious gashes as well as bandages.
Kara stared through the window at the girl lying in the hospital bed that was barely breathing. "How is she?"
Dawn stepped out of the portal and glanced around the lab that had been turned into a makeshift hospital, gaze jumping between the heavily injured girl in the hospital bed and the identical looking girl standing on the other side of a force field next to Kara. 'Better than fighting Darkseid,' she mused as she scanned the girl, trying to figure out what was wrong with her so she could fix it.
Lena tried not to curse when she turned her attention to the monitor showing the girl's vitals and realized what she was seeing, even the solar lamps weren't going to be enough. "She took a lethal dose of Kryptonite, it's just a matter of time unless we can get the Kryptonite and lead out of her system."
"Or we cheat," Dawn muttered as she used her contractor power and gave the girl a knock off version of Crawler's power that would let her quickly adapt to the Kryptonite and flush the lead from her body. "Give her five minutes and she'll be right as rain."
Lena relaxed as the girl's vitals started improving. "Her vitals are getting better."
J'onn followed Luna through the ring and glanced around the makeshift hospital. "What happened?"
The girl behind the screen turned to look at J'onn. "One of the fucking Children of Liberty tossed a lead filled Kryptonite grenade at Selena when she was trying to stop the fire they'd started to lure us there," the girl behind the shield complained. "This wouldn't have happened if we'd just taken Zora's suggestion about making sure Lockwood died in prison of a heart attack."
"You can't just murder people," Kara snapped.
"So you keep telling me," the girl grumbled, fairly sure things would be better if some of the worst villains died in prison.
"This is why you're not a hero Sarah," Selena said weakly.
"Damn straight, I'm a scientist, cause and effect, you toss a Kryptonite bomb at me and I'm going to pop your head like a water balloon in a microwave," Sarah replied, relieved that her twin wasn't on the edge of death. "How are you feeling sis?"
"Like crap, which is better than I was expecting to feel," Selena admitted. "How long until I can get out of here?"
"Two minutes," Dawn replied as she loaned Sarah her regeneration, causing the girl's wounds to instantly regenerate. "Moment of truth, we used a magical device to look at Kara's future children and we're actually in a pocket dimension, do you want to come with us or fade out of existence?"
"Is that a trick question?" Sarah asked. "Can we grab our stuff or are we on a time crunch?"
"Nope, everything in here other than people vanishes if it leaves," Dawn replied as she pulled a pack of flash memory drives out of her inventory, "but you can certainly take your computer files and I'll scan your computer if they're close so we can recreate them."
Sarah snorted. "You still use flash drives? Old school. I'm not sure most of my games will fit on those."
"Don't complain, it's better than nothing," Selena said as she sat up, fairly sure she was going to have a hell of a time fitting all of her porn on the drives unless they were a lot larger than she was expecting.
"Do you have more of those?" Lena asked, wanting to grab some of her counterpart's files and check the 'recent' scientific advancements for things she could produce early.
"Of course," Dawn replied as she duplicated the pack and tossed one of them to Lena. "With any luck I can scan all of the drives and storage devices so they can just copy things, at least in theory."
Sarah turned to look at Lena. "Let me guess, you're not our Lena?"
"I'm afraid not, we're all from the past," Lena admitted.
Selena slipped out of bed, trying to look on the positive side. "Excellent, no embarrassing baby stories."
"What do I have to bribe you with?" Kara teased, wanting to hear about their lives and get to know them, if only to figure out why Sarah ended up jaded.
"Speaking of bribery," Sarah smiled at Lena, "I'll help you get into the servers and show you the best stuff to scan if you start a tech company that isn't connected to Luthor Corp and give me ten percent of the profit you're going to make off the future tech."
"Gasp!" Selena gave her twin an over the top pout. "Betrayed by my own flesh and blood."
"Story of my life." Lena glanced between the girls then glanced at Kara. "I'll give you ten percent each if you help me get everything up and running."
"I'm expecting a nice check for duplicating the computers," Dawn teased as she worked on scanning the medical equipment.
"With a decent amount of zeroes," Lena assured Dawn then turned to look at Sarah. "Where do we start?"
"The servers," Sarah replied with a grin as she headed for the door.
"I'm going to take a look around and see what I can learn about the scientists," J'onn said as he headed towards the door, happy that they hadn't had to fight.
"I'll come with you," Luna said as she followed J'onn. "I need better researchers."
"Sounds good." Dawn swapped the power she was giving Lena to technopathy so she could quickly search the servers. "I swapped the durability power to technopathy, that should make searching the servers easier."
"You couldn't have mentioned that before I agreed to give them a cut?" Lena joked as she turned the force field off now that the Kryptonite coming off of Selena was at a safe lever.
"Nah, they'll help keep you honest," Dawn replied with amusement.
Selena laughed. "Sure, let's go with that."

"The next time you suggest taking a minor detour through some ruins, I'm going to zat you," Jack complained as he ducked behind a stone wall as several elves with bioluminescent hair tried to shoot him with arrows.
"It should have been empty," Daniel replied, doing his best to stay behind the stone pillar he was using as cover. "Parley?" he called out.
"For your trespass, we'll accept all of your chocolate," one of the elves called out in a deep booming voice that sounded like someone playing with a sound system.
"For the love of fuck," Jack complained. "Why do you want our chocolate?"
"Because chocolate is delicious?" one of the other elves called out.
"How do you even know about chocolate?" Daniel asked, wondering who they'd talked to and why he'd never heard mention of space elves from any of the people they traded with.
"Everyone knows about chocolate. Do you have any or should we go back to shooting at you without actually hitting anyone," the voice asked.
"Are you saying you're not just bad shots?" Jack asked, trying to get a location on the voice.
"It takes skill to miss this many times," the voice called out. "Either way, will you surrender your chocolate or not?"
"Fine, I'll give you a chocolate bar if you stop shooting," Jack offered.
"Deal," a different voice said, right next to Jack causing him to twitch and glance around. "How are you tossing your voice?"
"Magic," the voice replied.
"Goa'uld tricks aren't magic," Sam argued.
"Just because they don't have magic doesn't mean the rest of us don't," the voice replied with amusement.
"Right," Jack replied sarcastically as he pulled his chocolate bar out of his vest pocket.
Sam frowned when she saw one of the elves floating towards the group two feet off the ground. "I don't see a harness, how are you flying?"
"I'm not flying, I'm just drifting on the wind," the elf said as he floated closer.
"Here!" Jack tossed the bar towards the elf.
"Thank you! Come again, or you know, don't," the voice replied with amusement as the elf caught the candy bar.
"Do you have a species name?" Daniel asked.
"Sure, it basically translates to elf," another voice replied with amusement.
"You're obviously screwing with us, what's the deal?" Jack asked, trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
"I already told you, chocolate is delicious," one of the voices said before another one asked, "Why are you here?"
"We're explorers, we're going to find something to help against the Goa'uld," Carter replied as she peeked around the corner of the wall she was using for cover.
"Which is why you wanted to loot the ruins, makes sense except the ruins have a dungeon that you should probably stay away from," the previous voice replied.
"What type of dungeon?" Jack asked.
"One filled with bullet resistant monsters," another voice offered. "Basically your typical advanced goblins, walking undead, scaled lizards with claws and teeth."
"Right, next you're going to say there are zombies in the dungeon?" Jack asked sarcastically.
"Not that I know of," one of the voices said. "If I asked you about a planet called Dirt or Terra would you have any idea what I'm talking about?"
"We generally call our home planet Earth, but you already knew that didn't you?" Jack asked sarcastically.
"Your accident is a pretty good give away," the elf replied.
"Who the hell are you?" Jack demanded.
"Someone that likes chocolate and grew up on the East Coast of America on a version of Earth, probably not yours or at least I'm reasonably sure it wasn't yours Jack."
"And yet you know my name, how?" Jack asked, wondering what the hell was going on.
"Maybe you just look like a Jack? Or maybe it's on your jacket?" one of the voices asked.
"Just my last name," Jack replied.
"Is there anything worth studying in the ruins?" Daniel asked, trying to get more information.
"Like gold, gems, weapons or cat pictures? As I said, there's a dungeon you might find something worthwhile in it but it's fairly nasty," a different voice replied.
"Are you done with your questions?" one of the voices asked as the elf turned and flew back towards the dungeon.
"Can we talk to someone in charge?" Jack asked.
"If you insist," a female voice said as a human female in her late teens or early twenties appeared out of thin air, looking like she was sitting on an invisible chair four feet off the ground. "Not that it would hurt but if you shoot me and ruin my clothes, I'm going to be annoyed."
Carter stared at the t-shirt. "Vader was a clone?"
"It's the only damned thing that makes sense. So, what did you want to ask?" the girl asked.
"How did you get here?" Carter asked before Jack could argue about the clone bit, suddenly glad that Teal'c was spending time with his son as he would have argued the point.
"No idea, we woke up about twenty minutes ago, figured out that we shouldn't be shooting people and have been playing with illusions ever since. Beyond that, no clue. I'm guessing you used the Stargate to get here?"
"We could have taken a ship," Jack pointed out, just to be difficult.
"Does that mean we can get a ride to Earth?" she asked hopefully, figuring waiting on Earth would be easier than waiting on an abandoned world in the middle of nowhere.
"We'd have to call that in," Jack replied. "How many of you are there?"
"A hundred," the girl admitted.
Jack winced, knowing he'd have a hell of a time convincing the general to allow a hundred unknown sentients with interesting tricks anywhere near Earth. "That might be problematic."
"What about the location of the gate?" she asked, figuring she could just follow them while invisible if they didn't want to tell her the location of the stargate.
"You're saying you don't know where it is?" Jack asked with a raised eyebrow, not sure he believed them.
She shook her head. "We literally just woke up, had enough time to figure out that we shouldn't be shooting at people and swapped to practicing weaving illusions, so no, we don't know where the gate is."
"If you've only been awake twenty minutes, how do you know about the dungeon?" Daniel asked.
"Because we knew about it before we woke up," she explained, not wanting to get into reincarnation with a group that had trouble believing in magic when the ascended could basically hand it out.
"What's your world like?" Carter asked.
"Take 1980's Earth and toss in Godzilla and his siblings then add super powers granted by parasitic alien supercomputers, now advance things thirty years."
"Godzilla and super powers?" Jack asked in disbelief.
"Not quite but close enough, they attacked another city every four months or so. If there weren't enough capes, the city would basically get destroyed."
"You expect us to believe that?" Jack asked.
"You asked, I told you, I don't actually care if you believe me or not." The girl wove a flame over her hand. "I don't need your belief for my magic to work and your disbelief doesn't matter."
"You're not using a device are you?" Daniel asked.
"No, it's magic," she replied as she floated the flame closer to Daniel so he could examine it. "Just don't touch it, it's actually hot."
"Didn't you just say powers were given by alien supercomputers?" Jack asked with a touch of annoyance, mostly because she seemed to be having fun being cryptic.
"I never said they handed out magic," she replied with a shrug.
"How does it work?" Carter asked, curious how she was manipulating the energy and where it was coming from.
"Do you want the short explanation or the long?" the girl asked.
"Long, I need to let the people at the gate know that we aren't being attacked anymore and have a chat with the General," Jack said as he walked off a bit so he could use the radio without interrupting the discussion.
"I can basically act as a channel for a source of 'magical' energy in another dimension and use it to manipulate the basic elements or weave the basic elements and spirit together to do various other things like illusions."
"When you're talking basic elements, you're not talking about the periodic chart are you?" Carter asked.
The girl shook her head. "No, fire, earth, wind, water and spirit. Spirit deals with dreams and links between people and serves as a binding force for some of the weaves. Some of the people back home have the ability to heal people and some of them can alter the weather or do other interesting things, it just depends on their talents and genetics."
"Does that mean you can't heal people?" Daniel asked.
"Not so much though I'm hoping some of our item crafters figure out a solution because being able to heal anything short of death would be useful," she said, wishing Dawn had gotten around to handing out copies of all of the Diablo books before they'd jumped worlds.
"You can make magic items?" Daniel asked, curious what they could do with them.
"I can't but some of my friends can, I have a magic cloak that blends into the ground better than a chameleon which is useful when you want to sneak up on people," she said then launched into a discussion about magic items and magic that left Carter and Daniel with a bunch of questions they were probably going to have to ask a crafter but did manage to convince them there was a difference between powers and magic.

Typos I copied and forgot to paste at the end of the chapter they're from if you want me to elaborate on any let me know which ones “I wouldn’t mind having decent access to ter’angreal,’ Darla admitted. “Mom likes to keep everything locked up in the palace which means studying it is a pain in the ass unless she’s helping and that’s worse, mostly because I use saidin rather than saidar and things don’t always translate well. That and she’s always dealing with some idiotic noble so she rarely has the time. I mean seriously, she’s one of the few people around that are any good at making ter’angreal, she could delegate a bit more.” Dawn snickered. Yep, I’m awesome.” The girl glared at Willow, unable to respond thanks to her gag. ‘You’re insane if you think you can defeat the Great Lord.” Marin wasn’t particularly happy about learning from the Forsaken but killing the best source weaves they had access to because they were criminals wasn’t the best idea either. Coiled grabbed his gun and spun around. “How did you get here?” “In that case, you’re free to go,” Armsmaster assured him, making a mental note to place some calls to see if he could get a retroactive kill over on Lung so they could avoid pissing off the cape when it was obviously self defense. “Do you have a way we can get a hold of you? We might have questions.” “Sounds like a plan,” Xander said as he glanced around. “I don’t suppose you know where the nearest pawn or coin shop is because I don’t have any currency that’s legal in his country? I also have no idea how I fell through the sky and landed here.” He was fairly sure it was Dawn’s fault but he didn’t see a reason to tell the local authorities anything he didn’t have to. “Brockton Bar, the lair belonged to a local villain,” Dawn explained, happy that Coil was dead considering what he’d had planned for the city. Faith set her gun in the back of the truck she’d been using as a stand and waved to the Siberian. “By now!” She grinned as Xander summoned her to his location a few blocks away. “That was fun.” Tara opened a door into Null’s room and blasted the sleeping parahuman with her knew ability, wanting to make sure he was unconscious. “You might as well grab him, I’ll drop him off in a world without parahumans once we’ve made an evil copy.” “We have telepaths on staff and a virtually endless number of worlds to send people to. I have no problems dumping these fuckers on one to see if they can make it as stone aged presents.”
