There is another Goodies Christmas Special, called The Goodies and the Beanstalk from 1973. I originally thought that was what you'd be reacting to this time. But this was still good to see again, I'd forgotten it was set at Christmas, actually, been so long since I saw it, when the dvd came out.

Yay, one of my favourite episodes! Glad to see you enjoyed it as much as me! Worth watching just for Graeme's Muppet Show on its own! Yes, Bill really did shave off his trademark beard for this. They expected to get a huge laugh from the studio audience, but instead they got a completely stunned reaction. You can even hear the audience gasp in shock at the reveal. The facial hair was kind of Bill's signature appearance by this point, though in his early TV days he sported this clean-shaven look. It's rather like the idea of Cesar Romero shaving off his moustache to play the Joker - unthinkable. When Bill tell Tim to "sin something simple", he's making a reference to a long-running radio show of the day called "Sing Something Simple", which featured arrangements of popular easy-listening songs. Incidentally, the bit with Tim regressed to a child and Bill dressed as his mother makes an appearance, albeit butchered to hell and back, in The Conjuring 2.
