Begins β‰  Youth Ep. 5 REACTION

This episode like so many others like it causes me to ask two questions - Why does life have to be so cruel to so many people? & Why is life so unfair? But then I ask myself - what is fair and are we capable of properly judging what is fair or not?

Gripping episode overall with a few slow moments (in typical k-drama fashion lol). I don't think we are even close to solving this mystery yet. But I'm confident that we will start putting more together within the next few episodes. Please guide us - but don't spoil us in the comments FAM πŸ€“πŸ˜†

I feel your story Nico. It's the same when my Caucasian employers call Filos like me "maids" or "golddiggers" even when I worked in a management position. I hightailed it out of there, those racist f*cks.

Haru's parents definitely told him not say anything. They want him to hide it. That's why he has been struggling. This is no spoilers. This is everything you've seen in the episodes you have watched And they said it in the episode. That's what his parents were telling in the room

Ana

Because haru parents care more about their image

I wish I could tell you that the episodes get easier from here on out, but they do not. πŸ₯² It is interesting starting to the see the mystery unfold from here though. Also, the scene with the guy and the lighter at the end.....I don't know if you guys saw it, but when Changjun took Hwan's phone away and put in his desk drawer, that lighter was in his dad's desk drawer. A lot of people miss this, which is easy to do cause it's such a fleeting moment. That doesn't really give us any indicators as to who was on the bridge, but we do know that at ONE point, the lighter was in Hwan's dad's desk drawer at the big fancy house. πŸ˜…

Nico, I am so sorry you had that experience at your old job. That is absolutely disgusting and my stomach felt sick just listening to it so I can't imagine how much worse it was living it. I hope karma deals with those people in the roughest of ways.

Lizzie

I 100% believe Haru would have gone through will telling the police if his parents hadn't gotten their claws into him before the meeting. His parents are vile.

Lizzie

"why are they all so upset" I think we've seen over the last few weeks how the sk police can make things a way bigger deal than they are. πŸ™ƒ Like it is ridiculous that they were held like that for so long. Like you can bring them in and question them without parental consent, but they need a parent to pick them up before they can leave? It's so backwards.

Lizzie

Ahhh yes. Here you can finally see why I can't STAND Haru's parents. 😭

Lizzie

I just want to point out that it's not DID, but rather schizophrenia. If he had DID, he himself would be changing personalities. But he is seeing a hallucination within reflective surfaces and maybe sometimes out of them, which is more along the lines of schizophrenia.

Lizzie

Thanks fellas for this reaction. Special SO to AJJ for being such a trooper. I can see he's really tired. LπŸ’œ

This episode practically gave me anxiety! I'm proud of Hwan standing up to his overbearing, but too much into his own personal priorities father. He's trying to raise Hwan as a heartless man like himself. However, it seems that Hwan has a lot of his mother in him. I'm so curious to find out what happened to Hwan's mother. When I saw those old men eating and drinking with his father, all I thought was to please not make Hwan drink again. Speaking about mothers, I can't wait to find out what happened to Cein's mother as well. I knew that Haru was going to back down from telling the truth of what happened that day. I agree with Blaze regarding Haru's parents interjecting of his decision. I don't understand why his parents doesn't want him to talk about it. This is why he is having a mental breakdown. Wouldn't talking about it and having police capture the criminal put Haru's mind at ease? Wouldn't it finally clear his conscience? In my opinion, they're doing more harm than good. To me, they are the worse of all parents, and even top Jooan's father who beats him! I don't know about any of ya'll, but every time I see Jhope's character smile and wave, I just want to hug him. The JK's character has no fear. He knows how to play his step-brother's insecurity against him. That smirk he gives gets me all the time. OMG! What is wrong going to the beach? Is it against the law? So what Cein is carrying a lighter. Is that against the law, too? Would the police had preferred for Cein to carry a gun or the fake knife he was accused of? I am tooooooo sarcastic and have no filter when it comes to stupid people asking stupid questions. This episode was intense!

"Wait, he's real?" That's what I said the first time I watched, too!!! I watched through them all real fast 'cause I wanted to know wtf was going on. Rewatching with y'all is helping me to see a lot of stuff that I missed. Just little things, but still, it's nice.

I enjoyed reading your comment Maria. I agree - the casting is exceptional. I feel like each actor embodies key attributes of the members. They did their homework for sure. The story is a tragedy and even though we know this, it doesn't make it any easier watching all of the hardship that these guys have to endure. It makes me happy when I see them together and how they cheer each other up and comfort each other. But it's all wrapped in sadness which is tough. I am also happy that we are watching this together cause yeah it's heavy. Appreciate you FAM LπŸ’œ

Hey FAM πŸ’œ I was binging the reactions to the previous episodes when this one dropped so perfect timing! I knew this drama was going to hit hard because of the heartbreaking BU story we all know, but not THIS hard! πŸ˜‚ Especially the boys' characters, I didn't think I'd grow attached to them but they're such incredible actors I couldn't help it, by episode 2 I was already deep down in the Begins Youth rabbit hole πŸ˜… The casting was done so incredibly well! I wasn't expecting to see this much resemblance to the Bangtan members, but at times it almost seems like I'm hallucinating and watching the real members, because of a facial expression, a mannerism, or voice. It's crazy, these details leave me speechless. Anyways, I'm very invested in the story and waiting to see how it unfolds (also dreading the inevitable 'cause we know how badly and sadly it will unfold). I'm glad I'm watching it with everyone here though, it makes the heaviness of the themes and events more bearable together. Last but not least, it's so heartwarming to watch the group's bond strenghtening and blossoming with each episode, it's also bittersweet and makes me miss our real OT7 even more! πŸ₯Ί (so glad we "only" have 10 months left to see them all reunited - we can finally count the months down on two hands yay!) I hope the drama writers give us more happy group moments going forward, to help us deal with the incoming misfortunes. This ended up being a general comment to the drama instead of episode 5, but oh well, there are still 7 episodes left to go in-depth. Let's stay strong for the next ones! πŸ˜‚ See you then! LπŸ’œ

That’s so sad

Even if it’s fiction Haru story is a good exemple of how much of a taboo mental health is in korea, his family is so ashamed it’s tragic for him. And I’m Even more proud of BTS for talking about those issues in their music . As always thank you guys for your rΓ©action 🫑

I think his parents are hiding something. If his parents hadn't of come, I believe he would have told. All the adults except for Hosu's guardian and Cein's dad are complete dumpster trash.🀬

Princess Bunny K Jeon

Haru has developed DID (dysociative identity disorder) and he has alters that protect him. Haru wants to move forward but his alters prevent it to protect him. Haru did not hurt this boy again on purpose. When Haru sees images in glass that is an alter. Notice his change in demeanor and character. πŸ’œ
