---
December blasted on to the scene for Sue, her due date now just around the corner. All Sue’s snacking was starting to catch up to her though. The onslaught of food had come on fast, but at the same time had been gradual. Her pregnancy cravings had been one thing, but the past few months, each day had seen Sue eating more and more, indulging and completely enjoying herself. That’s why Sue didn’t think it odd at all the amount she was packing away on a daily rate.
In October her nemesis had been all the free candy, November had been all the generous patients. Now in December though, Sue was her own worst enemy, but also had to partially blame it on the hospital cafeteria. In the past Sue had only ever frequented the hospital cafeteria for the free water, or the occasional salad for lunch when she was too lazy to bring something from home. But now that she was 9 months pregnant, she was feeling lazy most every day, and she was craving something a bit more than just salad. Lucky for Sue, the hospital cafeteria was packed with plenty of holiday goodies.
She had been hooked from the day she spotted the egg nog and ham, it didn’t stop there though. Turkey dinners with sides of potatoes and gravy, heavy dense fruit cakes, stuffed chicken coated with creamy mushrooms, they had it all. Sue felt grateful that her patients had access to such fine cuisine. She also didn’t mind that she could help herself with her steep employee discount. One of her new favorite stops at the cafeteria though was the dessert bar. In the past Sue would grab her salad, a side of dressing and hit the check out, but now, at 9 months pregnant, she was going to help herself to as much dessert as she wanted. Slices of cake and pie, cookies or brownies, her favorite though were whoopie pies, if ever there were whoopie pies, she always grabbed two.
Sue had been rocking her desk job ever since she transitioned in November. She figured this was giving her major kudos for when she got back from her maternity leave. Plus her shifts were much more manageable, especially since she was only growing more and more each day. Sue was even shocked how big she was growing. Her new non-clinical attire had been far outgrown, but Sue was hesitant to upgrade her wardrobe since her due date was fast approaching. The ill fitting clothes left much of her pregnant physique open to eyeing scrutiny.
Her belly looked like it had doubled in size since last month. Her ballooning middle billowed out in front of her. She thought her pot belly last month was cute, but now she sported an epic domed belly that was a struggle to conceal with any top. Her button up shirt could button no more, forced to be left open and only cover the tops of her arms as her belly stretched out over a foot in front of her. It was natural for her belly to grow, especially at this stage of the game, but the trips to the hospital cafeteria were certainly influencing its size. Sue loved seeing her big belly, but just didn’t realize how extra big it was from her over indulging. Her poor white tanks didn’t even have the willpower to contend with a belly that big.
Not only that, her tank top had its only battle to fight with Sue’s chest. Her upper torso had also been affected by Sue’s recent patterns the last couple of months. Her boobs had swelled like watermelons, overflowing any bra, and escaping any gap in clothing. Her tank top’s poor neckline, stretched out by the weight of two heavy breasts, as they cascaded over the hem of the crew neck. The two weighty pillows filled much more of her view now than before, her right side always fighting the left allowed for plenty of deep cleavage moments.
Outside of her torso, you could barely notice a change, her lower half had barely gained an inch, and her face looked as pretty and glowing as ever. This battle of the bulge didn’t stop Sue though, she was eating so many calories a day it seemed sometimes like she was eating for more than just two. Every meal made her feel warm inside, nurturing in a way. Every hot plate from the cafeteria warmed her soul, and every sweet treat made the world look a little less sour. Sue was enjoying herself so much she didn’t stop to think of the consequences, the consequence of how large she was getting.
The end of December came and the holidays came and went with it. With her due date within a week, Sue was at her largest, pumped full of hospital food from the last month. She had a serious waddle now, and moved pretty slow anytime that she was forced up from her comfortable desk chair. If this baby didn’t come soon, Sue had to think seriously about going out on bed rest. With the amount of weight she had gained in such a short time, no one could possibly get used to a change that big that quickly. Although Sue was full and fat, she was also happy. She had cared dearly for her growing baby, and that is what mattered most to her. No amount of awkward looks, and overheard whispered comments was going to get her down.
Sue was going to miss the hospital for the few months she would be gone once the baby was born. No more bowls of bite size chocolate treats on every desk corner, no more generous patients dropping off food to thank the staff, and saddest of all no more generously portioned cafeteria meals at the ready all hours of the day. Maybe a little time away from the hospital would help Sue slim back down a bit after this baby. One thing was for sure though, Sue’s life would never be the same in just a couple of days.
