.NET 8.0 anyone?

Hey All, given .NET 6.0 was de-supported in November 2024 and .NET 8.0 is now the LTS (Long Term Support) version to use I thought it was the right time to upgrade the framework for the applications.

Upgrading .NET to the later versions generally offers better security and improvements, whilst can also lead to improvements in performance. So really it's the right thing to keep doing as part of the maintenance of a product in .NET.

I have this week been migrating the v2 code base to .NET 8.0. I have to say it appears to be a relatively straight forward step and I didn't need to modify much to get a build. So the process has been pretty easy. I plan on doing the same for ai too.

On the face of it the v2 app appears to be running perfectly well, however I don't have a huge amount of time to check every corner of the application. I'm therefore asking if people are happy to help check this out with me before I release generally. It will of course involve installing the .NET 8.0 AspCore Runtime and .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime, if you don't already have this installed.

So PM me or comment on here if you would like to help test the full functionality of v2 and ai, and I'll share a link to the build.
