Almost ready for a beta release!
Added 2023-01-23 19:08:24 +0000 UTCHi Guys,
Another timely update since the last one! Well, since then we've had Christmas and a New Year and during this period I've been able to work on the new release a little more than normal (inbetween family get togethers and the festive fun). I was sick at the begining of January and that put me back on my plans for a week but I'm glad to say I'm getting very close to the next release being made available.
As the application gets more complex and has many features such as timed tags, AI scanning, playlists and many more then fundamental changes need to be carefully carried out with a lot of thinking. Wrong design decisions can lead to functionality being broken or potentially having to reimplement lots of changes on old code to cater for the new features. This can certainly be said for the Video and Image sets functionality I have in this next release. Its always been something I was keen to do however I'll be honest its something I've put to the back of the queue as I knew it would take some considerable brain power to get it right!
Well the good news is I'm almost there with it! Yes it was pretty complex and quite taxing on the brain but I've got something close to working well now. As always I want to ensure that settings you make in the application can easily be reverted if you don't like the outcome and the same is the case here and hence why its took much more testing and retesting scenarios to get right. Finally you'll be able to flag a scan folder as containing child folders within it which group images or videos as sets. If you choose to revert it, then it'll simply go back to the original structure. This will now allow you to have albums for images (without worrying about a naming convention ending in numerics, although that feature is still there), it will allow you to have a folder representing a full film feature containing video files for each scene. Furthermore the functionality that you could have previously such as tagging each scene video, adding time tags or bookmarks etc will still be there! Best of both worlds!
The final piece I'm working on this week therefore is to collect info from nfo files in the video set folder then I'll be ready for a quick beta release for you to try and give me some feedback! I'm hoping to have this ready at some point this week, I've just got to test a few more scenarios first. I'll also scan through messages I've had over the last couple of months for new features or bugs you've found and will tidy them up at the same time.
As always thanks for the support guys!
