I WAS RIGHT I KNEW IT HE’S GOING TO TURN INTO THAT GIANT MONSTER
HOW THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO GET HIM BACK FROM THAT
HOLY SHIT
THIS IS NUTS
Holy shit! And him saying all that stuff and sliding directly into actually voicing his pain and fear and self-loathing. That was intense. I know we’re only a couple episodes from the end, but damn, it’s all coming together. This is going to be nuts.
The episode also didn’t play so much with the cringe as with the sympathy we feel for Steven in his current state, which was a pleasant reassurance after what I thought was going to happen. This whole episode was…wow.
Steven thinks he’s a fraud, that all the good he’s done is covered up by his recent bad. That he’s somehow just like this instead of this being the result of his trauma and recent experiences. He’s horrified by how easy it was to get away with stuff, almost more than how horrified he is that he did it in the first place. I don’t know how they talk him down from this. I don’t know how they talk down a giant monster at all. But…man. This is going to be an emotional couple of episodes.
Everything’s Fine was very good, but apart from that intense final couple minutes, doesn’t crack my all-timers list. Everything’s Fine comes in at my new #6 for Season 6 (between Little Homeschool and In Dreams; #6 is a testament to how many good episodes are in this season) and my new #34 overall (between Little Homeschool and Sworn to the Sword).
Next up on the liveblog is going to be the penultimate episode of Steven Universe, I Am My Monster! I am NOT ready, holy shit! We’ll be doing that on Friday, so stay tuned for that. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, everyone.
Next up for streaming is going to be more Nier, which I’ll be doing tomorrow afternoon. If you’d like to see all the Nier streams I’ve done, click here for the playlist, or click here to be taken to my Twitch channel!
I’ll see you guys for whatever you tune in for next! Thanks for watching!
