Thinking About Urbancrawls - Part 5: Using the Ptolus Hexmap

Spoilers for those who don't have early access: The hexmap approach doesn't really work. This series really does walk though a (slightly cleaned up) version of how my thoughts on urbancrawls developed. At the time I wrote this segment, I was still struggling to figure out exactly why the hexmap doesn't work. I think the key failure is that the hexes don't represent anything meaningful in the city itself. The structure is so utterly artificial that it doesn't click. There are a bunch of other problems with my specific implementation of the hexmap here. Untangling those problems (one by one) is what eventually leads us to the conclusion of the series.
