FYI: MY FUTURE PLANS FOR THE iOS Situation Starting Nov 1

Hello, Everyone!

 I am writing to you as a FYI involving the iOS Apple Store and my step moving forward for the year 2025. As you know, Apple has decided to charge patrons new or old a 30% fee for subscribing to creators on the patreon app through the Apple Store starting Nov, 1, 2024. This 30% fee does not include your payment for any tiers. This is horrible for you as patrons as it means you will be paying more and I will be receiving less because I don't receive that 30% cut and it creates a financial imbalance for both of us.

I as a creator on patreon am already being charged with fees for using Patreon, I get charged a fee for every patron subscription, I get charge a fee when I recieve my paycheck , I get charged for taxes and it all adds up and with this ridiculous new policy with Apple. Patreon solution was basically raise my tier prices but I DO NOT think that's fair, I been comfortable with my prices and I don't plan to change them anytime soon.

Patreon has given creators an option to opt out of the Apple Store for one year as a way to give creators more time. This would mean you can't subscribe to my patreon through the apple store for a year. YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE TO MY PATREON THROUGH ANY WEB BROWSERS INCLUDING SAFARI, Androids users can still subscribe to creators through their App Store for free.

This year I am opting out of the Apple Store, I highly suggest for patrons who cancel and restart their subscription to please go through the process in your web browser. or for android users to continue using the android app store as you will not be charged a 30% fee. If I see a significant change do to opting out I will change my options. However, I want to test it out first and see if there is any real change or not.

I will continue to advertise my patreon on all my social media sites and placing the link to my patreon through a web browser alternative. I am hoping this way it can stop patrons who want to subscribe to me from using the iOS and take the alternative route and just go through your web browsers. I use apple product for my work and if I plan to subscribe to creators that is what I will be doing as well.

This is unfortunate and frustrating because apple doesnt do anything to contribute to my work, they just are an app and shouldn't be monopolizing consumers for using their app especially when these app require payments on their own. its gross.
