WWD: Torosaurus latus (Juvenile)
Added 2023-08-15 03:12:27 +0000 UTCYoung Torosaurus have never been discovered, so this one is based primarily on baby Triceratops, with slight modifications (namely a smaller nose horn and longer frill). Interestingly about Triceratops growth, the babies hatch with nubs that grow into upward-curving horns, which then begin to curve downwards as they approach adulthood. Most Triceratops you see in museums and pop culture are based on subadults, which have sideways S-shaped brow horns, but older adults have horns that just curve downwards. The reason for this growth pattern is not known; maybe it was easier to stab predators with upward strikes when you were smaller and downward strikes when you're bigger?
