Further WORK STAGES on a promising page from THE CHASTE AND THE CHAINS; also, DESIGNS AHOY!

On The Chaste and the Chained front, I made some decent progress this weekend on another test page from that recent story I posted about. Here was the rough for the story's initial page, as seen previously:

And the analog-pencil roughs for the next page:

  As you'll eventually see, the concept here is that the Elf Mage is claiming to be covertly inspecting him for malign spiritual presences, when she's actually using a vision spell to ogle his body underneath all that armor and gear; given that I'd rather draw beefcake than complicated fantasy outfits and/or armor, I was delighted to have figured out this magic-driven excuse for such imagery.

Next up, I scanned the roughs, opened 'em in Clip Studio Paint on the PC, and worked up this underdrawing:

 Then I transferred the CSP file over to my iPad and spent the next few workdays on the following set of digital inks, seen here near completion but still in progress:

 The "inks" are a combo of the iOS CSP Design Pencil brush (for the tones on the Paladin) and the Turnip pen dialed way down in size, along with the Hard pencil brush; I'm finding the results pretty pleasing so far, if way too slow and time-consuming. Still, actual progress has been made on the digital front!

Finally, some CSP (iOS) design sketches messing around with varying approaches to rendering the Elf Mage's mutable clothing (and, of course, her "toothsome rump", per Empowered's Caged Demonwolf):

 And an experimental set of head shots, based in part on the work of other artists:

 The top three sketches are loosely based on several different Mirka Andolfo con sketches; the one at lower left on a random shot from the manga Akebi's Sailor Uniform by the mangaka Hito; and the final image is very loosely derived from a page drawn by the mangaka Shin'ichi Sakamoto. As you might note, I'm really enjoying the constant, easy access to white linework that digital media allows. Yay?
