Accidentally posted that too soon. I don't remember the name of it but there was an early Enterprise episode where Archer gave a speech about how we would not just leave those bodies behind if they were human. We'd bury them and even try to find the next of kin, and, if we really are what we claim to be, it shouldn't matter that they aren't human. Again, lacking episode titles but I remember where B'lanna and Tuvok were captured. While being tortured, Tuvok screams in pain. B'lanna tells him how her Klingon grandfather admired vulcans and how she grew up believing stories like "No vulcan would ever cry out in pain" and no torture could break one. She concludes that she has to now accept that some of those stories were exaggerations (perhaps equivalent to the old Ned Buntline remark that, when reality contradicts the myth, print the myth). One could argue that it undermines TOS but it also explains away some farfetched stuff by more or less saying that what we saw on television was sometimes equivalent to what a Star Trek 23rd century audience saw in "holo-vids" when they watched recreations of the voyages of Kirk's Enterprise, which were dramatic exaggerations at times.

Great list. I'll respond to your request for other opinions. I can't do a top 20 though I can say what my favorites were of some of the shows. I know this is not something you'd see on almost any list but I go with "The Empath" as my favorite of TOS. I just thought it epitomized TOS with the trio showing the best of humanity (and vulcans). True, one of the aliens even says that. But it struck a chord. For TNG, "Who Watches the Watchers?" Showcased the problems with religion and had such a wonderful speech. We live, we hope, we die. In every way that matters, we are the same. For DS9, many episodes including the ones you mentioned. But my favorite DS9 and favorite of all Star Trek episodes was "It's only a Paper Moon". Great PTSD episode but, also, a great Pinocchio story, which I'm always an easy mark for. So were many Data episodes and the Moriarty episodes but this was more subtle because it's done while you're focused on something else that seems to be the main story.

It's excruciating how the producers read the news as the episode was being made about how exactly that was going on in Los Angeles. And there's a constant stream of news stories that continue to show how present tense "Past Tense" has always been.

Could you imagine criminalizing the homeless? *sob*

Wow, I couldn't pick fav across so many series- no issue with your choices :-)

Do I have the power of precognition or have you already done this video once before...? Even down to the 'In The Pale Moonlight' quote at the beginning? I'm not crazy... right...? EDIT Thank goodness, I was getting mixed up with your top ten DS9 episodes video. *phew* ... Although now I wish I did have precognition.

Andrew Michael

Not just a callous disregard for the homeless, the criminalization of the homeless.
