Hey Patrons,
In the last update, you learned a lot about the Wildflower legend—now, dive into this short story to understand it even more!
Today, I bring you the story of the Witches of Wildflower.
And like many great tales, it began on a stormy night—a night the people of Wildflower would never forget. Even 300 years later, it still haunts them.
When a young woman was accused of killing her husband through witchcraft, no one could have imagined that this would curse Wildflower for eternity.
Her name was Agnes, and she was the first to be accused during the witch hunts. As she sat locked away, more and more women were accused of being witches. Ultimately, this led to around 100 women being imprisoned, all awaiting their trials.
Considering Wildflower had only 700 residents at the time, this meant nearly every childless woman over the age of 15 was accused of witchcraft.
And then, one man made a decision that would forever stain Wildflower in blood.
The accused would not stand trial. They would burn.
On the blackest of nights, beneath a sky split open by lightning, the town carried out its greatest massacre. One by one, the women were thrown into the pyre, their screams swallowed by the night.
Then, the storm broke, leaving nothing behind but the ashes of what were once bodies. But when the people approached to check if all the witches had burned, something was wrong. A few bodies lay untouched by the flames. Their flesh unscorched.
Among them was Agnes, her eyes wide open, staring deep into their souls as she whispered, “Real witches cannot burn.”
And that was the moment the true horror for Wildflower began.
Dear patrons, stay tuned for what happened next, because this was only the beginning of how the legend of the Witches of Wildflower started—and as you’ll see, it was never just a folktale... ;)
