John's TooManyGames 2023 Video Where Jojo punches things.

Normally when I make videos for TooManyGames, it's uploaded to the main feed shortly after, or sometime later. But this time, this video is more of a prototype of a future video I'm working on later this year, and was made specifically for the TMG crowd. Let's talk Jojo for a little bit.

John's TooManyGames 2023 Video Where Jojo punches things.

Comments

Oh my god. I posted a handful of comments whenever I saw a JoJo reference in a vid, the initial announcement, the Eagle Island vid, MAN I am hyped. Also, I’ve gotten into the competitive scene for the JoJo fighting game. It’s fucking awesome, and I hope you have a great, great ride. Oh, also, there’s a massive community of online matches based on the updated arcade release which most people play on these days. The clip you showed of DIO smacking the shit out of Jotaro is like- an online tournament match with “palette modding”, or palmodding. Which can also fuck with the background and most assets if you’re not careful. Also, not only is Petshop banned, very recently, Kakyoin was banned too! He’s got waaaay too many easy infinites to set up, and it started to ruin tournaments. Like Bayonetta in Smash 4. Also! If you’d ever wanna get into viewer matchups n shit maybe as like- a Patreon fight club thing, I can help! I’ve been a Black Polnareff main since the beginning of the pandemic, and it’s always so fun seeing new people get into the game.

Hey, Johnny's right! I don't want context for those clips, it's funnier that way!

Completely irrelevant to this new video, but I think it would have more visibility here than on a nearly four-year-old YouTube video, but I have to note something about the Code Veronica review from way back when. That being you jumped the gun in assuming the PS3 HD version was the way to go over the PS4 emulation of the PS2 version. I feel obligated to note this because most of your visual critiques (Not gameplay which is identical and still one of the rougher RE games) are a direct result of that assumption and your choice. The 2011 HD version of Code Veronica was notoriously botched and so Capcom and Sony actually did us a favor by using the superior PS2/GC version as the basis for their own upscaled port, and they even took the time to fix a lot of the PS2 version's issues like its rampant ghosting and low gamma levels. The 2011 HD version meanwhile had a terrible lighting engine that, in its attempt to be more dynamic, left several areas without proper lighting at all, making it an eyesore. Making matters worse, the 2011 version threw static filters and high-contrast filters over the entire image, making it look even worse. Sony saw fit to let us have this version while Microsoft just added the 2011 version to BC and got us stuck with that version forever. In short, the PS4/5 version is actually the best version of CVX despite lacking widescreen, it simply has the best image with proper brightness. That said, I will stand by the Dreamcast version, like with Sonic Adventure, still being the definitive version. Other consoles just never were able to get Dreamcast lighting right. I know none of this matters, CV's problems as a game still apply, but it's something I do wish was mentioned in the review and is important. It's also me just noting to the community, that if anyone does want to give CV a shot, Dreamcast or PS4 or Dolphin emulating the GC release. Avoid the OG PS2 version and the 2011 Remaster like the plague. Don't be tempted by that widescreen in the 2011 release, it's one step forwards and like five steps back visually.

Inhuman Paradox

To be honest I'd say with Jojo if you aren't into it by at least part 2, Joseph's part, then I'd say that's a fair stopping point. Part 2 really introduced a lot of the wackiness and characterization Jojo would produce for arguably the rest of the series. Battle Tendency is the skeleton of the series in my opinion

Same too for Joseph. Tho I think Josuke bring the best trait from almost all the JoJo's.

I'm so excited for the full one. This one was already full of laughs. JoJo is my favorite piece of media ever; it means so much to me. Having my favorite YouTuber do dedicated videos on it just makes me so happy. Thank you for delivering, Johnny!!!

SOMECALLMEJOHNNY JOJO VIDEO AT LAST AHHHHHHH

genosauce colada

Do it and start from part 1 because it makes the other parts more impactful imo. People do say to start at part 3 but I disagree you miss the beginning and the evolution of the series

Fun facts about Heritage for the Future: Midler (the High Priestess chick) was completely redesigned by Araki at the request of Capcom, as she didn’t really… have one in the original manga. They even used Yukako from Part 4 as a reference for her poses. Also, in later versions of the game, Polnareff has a secret super move that… kinda spoils a major plot point from the ending of Part 5 - it’s the only reference to later parts in the game as far as I’m aware.

What a beautiful preview! *chew*

I like them all out of the ones I've seen ( finished 1 - 6 and about to start reading Steel Ball Run) but my heart is telling me Joseph.

Yo. Who the best JoJo?

Alan501

Having never seen JoJo, I will now start watching it because I love insane bullshit

Jon Blain

I remember this being teased in one of your Johnny direct videos a few years ago. I can’t wait to see the full video sometime in the future. Side note, I’m always reminded of Billy Kametz whenever I see clips of Josuke now. Its really sad that he’s no longer with us.

Jonathan Ramirez

I still need to get Eyes Of Heaven, one day. But Father Pucci is in that game and that will remind me of how much I dislike the ending of Stone Ocean.

Jurf Rokstar

really looking forward to the video proper. love jojos! jonathans the best jojo btw

Dialga236

Damn, its been forever since I saw the og jojo ova. Its how I was introduced to the whole series!
