𝖆𝖚𝖌𝖚𝖘𝖙: Project Previews, Vlog, Getting a Cat...!

Hey, I thought I'd do a short blog-style post telling you a bit about what's been going on lately! I have been a little MIA on social media. Now you get to hear the juicy secrets as to why....!

First off I've been working on some book projects right now, including finishing up sketches for a dinosaur picture book, and sketches for a book about "extreme" birdwatching. My deadline for the birdwatching book is tomorrow and honestly I'm cutting it close time-wise.

I also had the opportunity to do an illustration for the New York Times, and that will be published sometime in September! Here are my thumbnails I submitted and the crop of the final piece:

Additionally, last week I had to rework an entire spread of a picture book that was already done (yay) for legal reasons. If you listened to my podcast this month you already know all about this.

I did end up liking the reworked spread way more than the original (hate it when that happens but also love it). Here's a very cropped preview:

I have a lot of choppy footage from the last month or so, including stuff from ren faire, the farm, celebrating some birthdays, working etc.

 It'll be a lot to edit, so it probably won't be out until sometime next month. Too much on the plate at this time to even be thinking about editing a video yippee!

There's also a new episode of Yeah, Maybe out where Leigh and I talk about pikmin bloom amongst many other things including but not limited to: feeling a little lifeless! It is available on all podcasting platforms now, and youtube very soon!

And finally, my big secret which has been occupying a lot of my time this week:

i have been in the process of adopting a cat ...! 

He will be my first solo pet. I met him last week and I'm taking him home tomorrow :')

Right now, his name is Eros, but I am considering renaming him. I have a list of very stupid names but I'm curious if you guys have any epic suggestions. He may very well remain Eros because I'm starting to get a little attached to it. Leigh suggested Demon King, so can anyone top that?

Some other names I considered: Nathan Fielder, Elmer (like the glue, and also like my first fictional crush Elmer Fudd), Dankovsky, Guy, Wizard, Guts, Knucklehead, Dumbbell, Edward, Viktor, Jesse

Some info about Eros:

he is 4 years old, spunky, likes to gnaw on my hand, loves feather toys, is half domestic short hair and half burmese. He has a round head and round body and the woman from the adoption place said "he is my kind of guy...i like the knuckleheads...."
