Can we Reengineer the Brenneke Super Sabot -- so they work?

Many viewers suggested we reload the remaining Super Sabots with different powders and wads.  Instead of testing these in 93 deg.  weather,  we went to the extreme and tested these at 106 deg.   What we were trying to do is figure out if the issues were with the heat,   the powder,  the plastic used in the wad or a combination of all three.

Can we Reengineer the Brenneke Super Sabot -- so they work?

You can tell O.G's not well. He didn't stick his finger in anything. Get well soon.

Few months ago I bought a selection of what I found interesting looking slugs (just the slugs with the sabot, not a readily loaded cartridge) at an Italian website called siarm.com Amongst these I had ordered 10 of these brenneke super sabot slugs. After some research and advice from experienced reloaders I loaded them with 27 grn of Vithavuori N340 in a 2 3/4 "Fiochi hull (70mm) and shot m out of a smooth bore. They were deadly accurate at 20 meters through a 3mm steel plate and ended up in 25cm of ballistic gel. All flying in a straight line, no tumbling as far as I can tell without a high-speed Camara.

Another valuable contribution to the backyard engineering school's curriculum. Each insight adds to the collective understanding of the shotshell reloader, based on good, hands-on empirical evidence. The red flag here is: be VERY careful when using Brenneke (and perhaps other, Euro-sourced) shotshells in the elevated temperatures found in the US.

Y'all are daggone troopers, putting up with that excessive heat for the sake of the channel. Much appreciated! - Ed on the Ridge
