So, the awful scene with Jaime was a mistake, and I mean a literal one. The show writers have said they meant for it to be ambiguous, or for Cersei to be hesitant initially but change her mind (which is more or less what happens in the book). Yet what aired is quite unambigiously Jaime raping her. Just gross and ugly all around, and it's somehow worse that they (supposedly) didn't even mean for to come off the way it clearly comes off.

I actually call BS on the writers claims tbh....They knowingly changed it from the books to a sexual assault scene for the sake of shock value. If you watch their "inside the episode" segment of season 4 episode 3, they even say "Jamie forces himself on his sister.". They later tried to walk it back because of the backlash , but you can't "accidentally" film a rape scene imo. It's the first sign of how the show runners value shock over good storytelling. I think the red wedding got them addicted to shock and subversion in the wrong way. And the worst part is that they continue past this episode without ever referring to this scene again.... like sexual assault is something you can just throw into the mix and not have it permanently change the characters. It's really unfortunate

that jaime scene is the one i commented abt last episode. honestly, don’t be mad at jaime, be mad at the writers/directors of the episode, because when there was backlash over that scene, they apparently claimed that it was a consensual scene. which, in the books, it WAS a consensual scene but what was put in the show was clearly a rape scene. so i was never sure if they had been misquoted or if they truly didn’t understand the difference between consensual and non consensual. it’s not the only scene they changed from the books to be more rape-y, but this was definitely the most egregious instance. it’s painfully clear throughout the show how little the show writers understand about the significance of such changes and events.
