Why a Halloween Album?

As many of you know, the past few years have been very challenging. It's been a long time since I felt excited for anything. Last year we had the opportunity to work with some very talented people and we set out to try something different. I've loved Halloween all my life but the last few I just found myself unable to find any excitement for it. Obviously a lot of that had to do with my poor mental health but at the time it wasn't that obvious.

I'd always wondered how Halloween could be such a big holiday but not have any actual music created for it. Anytime I looked for Halloween albums or songs, I'd find "The Monster Mash" was kinda the only song that could pass for "Halloween" and a few songs off the "Nightmare Before Christmas" soundtrack. Beyond that, it was horror movie themes, sound effects collections, and strange collections of top 40 songs that had the word "ghost" or "hell" in them, and somehow that was "Halloween Music." Nothing was really created specifically to celebrate Halloween so we thought it'd be a fun challenge to change that.

We had an opportunity to try something different and support the creative community and our Halloween album "AJ & Magnus It's Halloween!" was created! What this is, more than anything, is an attempt to create songs that we'd all be able to listen to each year and be uplifted the way we enjoy Christmas music.

At the end of the day, the small dream is this album will make people feel good and increase their enjoyment of such a wonderful holiday that has come a long way from its start. Today Halloween isn't just limited to monsters and the macabre, it's a time to live out fantasies and be who you want to be, something I think a lot of us can relate to. We wanted to create a collection of music that would represent the many faces of Halloween and we'll see if we achieved that! Now, the big dream would be people being inspired to build on what we've done and create their own Halloween music to share what the holiday means to them as well! I'd love to see Halloween music become as popular and beloved as Christmas tunes.
