Greetings Dr. Sledge. I've been following your work for a little while now, and truly appreciate your insightful analysis and witty commentary. Although I generally prefer to lurk, a comment you made in this lecture triggered some questions I'd love to hear your thoughts on. The concept of competing creators resulting in one attempting to create beyond the scope of its power seems to echo themes from the creation myths of Tolkien's Silmarillion. Do we know if hermeticism had any direct influence on Tolkien's work, or would this be a common theme derived from other sources in his case?

Ain’t that the etoinal question! Was I thrown in, or did I volunteer? Am I trapped, or willing, did I fall, or dive. As Campbell says, if you realize you’re falling, turn it into a dive.

Well that was fantastic! Thanks Dr. Sledge! Good stuff. Dr. Litwa shoutout was appropriate here. His work in Hermeticism and Gnosticism is unparalleled. His translation of the corpus is superb.

At the end of the video you mentioned the YouTube channel of another gentleman and you said you we have to absolutely check him out, but you kind of mumbled his name and I couldn't understand what it was. Could you give that to us again?

That demiurgic character is such a fixed and moving target. Just can't quite figure him out. Is he here to help or here to hinder? No one knows for sure.

Same design but each one is different

Loves the Hermetic deep dives! One of my favorites! BTW, are the next batch of incantation bowls going to be the same design as the previous batches or something different? Thanks!

One of my favorite reels so far. Will need to watch a few more times, look up the chapters in my corpus hermeticum. And maybe get a B on the test. 😀

How do you spell "philo-sofers" (lovers of noise)?

A random thought came to me, I'd love to see a "scribes gone wild: tales from the marginalia" episode. I've seen so much goofy stuff added as commentary by scribes.

Amazing and educational as well, Dr Sledge! Learning about the demiurge is always incredibly fascinating - Ancient Christians having such vast array of cosmic interoperations is truly eye opening. I only wish we kept a lot of these thing as the religion as an institution grew over the millennia
