Timelapse: ‘Fire Lily’ Katsuki
Added 2021-09-20 14:26:39 +0000 UTCHello hellooo! So, not exactly what I had planned to share this month for the second timelapse, but given this was a piece where I put a lot of focus into the lighting of the background elements, I thought perhaps it may be handy for some of you to see.
After my mind being blown by Fire Lily, and the visuals the writer offers, the lore, gah EVEYRTHING, I really wanted to draw some demon Katsuki. After two weeks of pretty much enforced isolation from fandom and my iPad, I did a lot of sketches in my sketchbook, as well as looked at the work of a lot of other artists, to try and keep my brain ‘ticking over’. A goal of mine is to one day find myself as a character concept artist for a games or film studio, so when I sat down to work on this piece, I really wanted to focus on telling a story. Whilst I don’t think I was as successful as I hoped, the cracked glass artwork behind Katsuki the subtle red glow, and the way the shadows draw the viewer into the center of the image, gave the effect I had wanted. This was probably the first time I really seriously put thought into lighting composition!
I know I still have a loooong old way to go. For now, this is a pretty demon Katsuki for you to enjoy.
