The Hidden Snake of the Lions (Harry Potter SI): Chapter 10

Filthy rich.

That is all I can say about myself right now.

“Is everything in order? Mr. Potter?”

“…..Yes. Thank you. I would like to stay here for a bit, if you don’t mind?”

The Goblin simply nodded at my words.

“Of course. It is your vault by inheritance. Call me when you are ready to withdraw or move back to the surface.”

The Goblin moved towards the cart and sat down on the driver seat, smoking some kind of cigar that was definitely made from magical materials, given that I was getting slightly dizzy from the smell.

I moved into Vault 687, my parents' Vault, and now, my Vault.

Once I was within the Vault, I sent a pulse of magic at the door, making it snap shut behind me.

The nifty thing about Gringotts and their vaults is that the owner of a vault can do literally anything they want with their vaults. Enchanting them, cursing them, whatever the owner desires can be done.

And given the magic I felt from this vault, I can tell that there are multiple protective wards, silencing spells, and other defensive measures placed on it, including a blood recognition spell.

This meant that, aside from those related to the owners by blood, no one else could step a foot into the Vaults. Not even the Goblins.

I ignored the massive pile of money that sat in the center of the Vault, which, with just a look, easily surpassed all my savings in my previous life.

Seriously, I knew that old magical families carry a lot of influence and money with them, thanks to my friendship with Ominis, but I never imagined the disparity to be so exaggerated.

Even then, James and Lilly practically never took much from the Potter family despite the close relationship they shared, which meant that all this money was basically chump change for the Potter family.

Shaking my head to get rid of those thoughts, I moved to the small desk that was located to the side, housing a few documents and books, along with a few trinkets.

“Let's see here. Deed for the Potter cottage in Hogsmeade. Deeds for the inheritance of Lilly and James Potter’s potion collection. Deeds for the inheritance of Potter family’s potion crafting expertise.”

The list went on and on, as Deeds after Deeds kept coming out of the storage in the desk, showing me just how much Mum and Dad had left behind for me.

But the most interesting things for me were not these deeds, which I stored directly in my enchanted bag that I bought recently.

The most important things for me were the various legally binding documents that my parents, specifically James, left behind.

Ranging from immunity towards any debts owed to or from the Potter family, all the way to a legal document that made me exempt from the tracking spell that every underage wizard must have on their wands.

Granted, this exemption only extends to the house that I have now inherited in Hogsmeade, but still, I can’t imagine what price James paid to have the Ministry agree to something like that.

Once I had briefly gone over everything in the documents and deeds, I placed them all directly in my bag for me to nit-pick at a later time.

Finally, moved to the top of the desk that held a few trinkets from which I could sense strong magic.

Most of them are protective and defensive in nature, with counter-curses and counter-hexes weaved into them.

But out of all of them, there is only one thing that caught my eye.

A pair of rings.

The same rings that I always saw on Lilly and James’s fingers.

It was their wedding rights, made from magical materials and enchanted to hell and back. I could tell that, once upon a time, these enchantments would have been the most powerful spells known to Wizardkind. But now, with centuries gone by since their creation and usage by many couples of the Potter Family, they don’t hold much value aside from the base costs of the materials used in their creation.

And yet, to me, they are the most priceless things in this entire vault.

I carefully took the box within which they were stored and put them in my coat’s pocket, zipping it shut so that they would not fall out accidentally, while also placing a few charms to make sure that they would not leave my coat until I wanted to take them out.

The rest of the trinkets and artifacts, I will sell off since they are not of much use to me. But these rings, they will stay with me for life.

Done with the most important task, I turned to the pile of money in the center and took a few thousand Gallions and a coin pouch.

Just in time for the door of my Vault to be knocked on heavily.

“Harry? Are you done yet? We need to leave now if we want to make it back to Privet Drive before nightfall.”

Again, with a thought, the vault door swung open, revealing the gentle giant grinning at my face.

“I see you are quite happy with your parent’s gift eh?”

The soft smile on my face must have given away my emotion, not like I care much about maintaining my image right now.

“You done with whatever you needed to do?”

At my words, Hagrid patted one of his coat’s pockets happily.

“Indeed. Shall we?”

I nodded at his words and got onto the cart.

With money in my pocket, there are things that I could not get on my previous visit that I want to get.

That, and an enchanted chain for my parents' rings.
