The Hidden Snake of the Lions (Harry Potter SI): Chapter 6
Added 2025-04-07 13:06:45 +0000 UTCMinerva McGonagall could not help but give a tiny smile as she watched the names being recorded by the magical Book of Admittance and the Quill of Acceptance hidden near the Headmaster’s office and only accessible to a select few.
Dumbledore had always wished that Harry Potter be left out of the wizarding world for his own good. Something that Minerva could not fault the old man for.
Nobody else knows the old man better than her, and she knew how much he cared for the Potters, the Longbottoms, Sirius, Peter, and the rest of his little order.
It was especially true for the Potters and the Longbottoms since he had been their professor when they were children and had seen them grow up with his own eyes, and he played a major role in their lives.
Losing them had been a devastating blow to his mind and had led to the old man becoming a little bit more pessimistic compared to how he once was.
However, despite his wishes, Minerva was glad to see that Harry Potter’s name was now being inscribed into the Book of Admittance by the Quill of Acceptance, showing that the boy had now used accidental magic enough times for these artifacts for the Founders to conclude that it was not a fluke and that he was genuinely capable of becoming a wizard.
With a wave of her wand, the long parchment that was automatically copying the names being inscribed into the book flew into her hand and shrunk.
The old woman swiftly left the room and headed straight for her office while calling for the House Elves of the castle to get her something to drink.
It was going to be a long day for her where she had to write personal letters for each new student that were not recorded into the Book of Acceptance and inform them of what was required of them and what the school would provide to them.
Aside from that, she also needed to arrange for the professors of the school to travel to various muggle families whose children had been chosen and inform them of this new development in their lives while also escorting and giving a briefing to any muggle or magical orphan that lives in the muggle world.
All of this must be achieved in the scant two months left before the First years are supposed to arrive.
‘So much to do, so little time! I’ll have to rope in the others for help.’
With those thoughts and a barely noticeable pep in her step, the old woman headed straight for her office.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I concentrated as much as I could and quelled all thoughts, allowing myself to be swept away by the flow of my magic.
For what felt like hours, but was only a few minutes in reality, I kept that state of mind up and gently guided my power to do my bidding, just like I used to in my previous life.
Ancient Magic that only a select few in the world even knew about, much less were able to see, mobilized from my body as I guided it.
I molded it like clay and built the structure that I envisioned in my mind.
Miniature towers rose from the wooden floor, their strange luster making them look like beautiful stones carved by the hands of a master craftsmen.
And yet, just as they were about to be completely, they suddenly collapsed and turned back into energy, returning to my body.
With a sigh, I fell back into my bed as Vritra slithered out from behind my pillow, gently nudging me with her face.
I smiled as impressions of concern entered my mind as my Parseltongue translated her hisses. Scratching her scales and received impressions of contentment from her, I sighed once again.
“Another failure. Looks like I really need to get my wand first before I can refine my control back to what it used to be. Whatever happened for me to be reborn like this must have also affected my magic control and even my ancient magic as well.”
All I felt from Vritra was confusion since she was unable to understand the concept behind what I had hissed to her. Whether it was because she was still relatively young or because she was a mundane snake and not a magical beast, I don’t know.
Given that it was only a few days ago that my eleventh birthday had passed, my best guess was that I would receive my acceptance letter for Hogwarts within the next month or two.
Provided Hogwarts existed here and in this time period.
The Quill of Acceptance and the Book of Admittance are tools left behind by the founders to automatically detect the usage of magic, whether accidental or deliberate. Then, they screen out the magic signature to detect the age of the user and only put down their names if they are children at or below the age of 11.
Those things had some serious spellwork weaved into them, something that I was never able to understand or decipher even a fraction of despite the years I spent trying just that in my past life.
Suffice to say, the chances of those artifacts missing me is next to zero. Especially when I am deliberately pulsing my magic at regular intervals every day to catch their attention.
Thinking about my time spent at Hogwarts in my previous life, I could not help but lose myself in the few memories I managed to recover about my previous life.
Faces and names that filled my heart with happiness and sadness in equal amounts. People that are probably long gone by now. Those that I called friends, called family.
Slowly, I lost track of time and fell asleep, dreaming of meeting those people once again and living in a time long since past.

I didn't expect myself to enjoy the new story, but nevertheless did, in fact enjoyed it. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
