totally! I think that makes a lot of sense!

I just mainlined a first watch of both seasons along with these reactions over the past 4 days of the free 7-day Apple+ trial. Good time. The only dissatisfaction I feel about this finale is that it's over and there isn't another episode to watch. I think everything Innie Mark did was justified, he cooperated as much as he could with Outtie Mark while also preserving his existence. Fighting for survival is the most basic impulse in this game o' life. I have two theories: At the end Helly isn't actually Helly on the severed floor, it's Helena. Helena thinks Helly is leading a more fulfilling life, socially in particular, so she is trying to become Helly. Helena slept with Innie Mark on the retreat because she wanted to be surrounded by the sincerity, love, and care that she saw her severed self getting which is totally absent from Helena's life. Now her fight is to save the rest of the innies, Innie Mark in particular. Gemma actually died and the technology the severed floor is working on has something to do with replicating consciousness and putting it into a new, cloned, body. So the work MDR has been doing is about remaking Gemma to test the technology. Mark is important to Lumon as he will be used to verify if the tech worked before they move on to bring back other people, probably Keir. The Innies will be fighting to take control of the technology so they can create physical manifestations of themselves that can exist independently from the outtie versions.

I told myself before the episode started that I shouldn’t expect this episode to be nearly as good as the season 1 finale. That was one of my favorite episodes of TV of all time, and it would be maybe a little unreasonable to expect them to match it. However, for me, this episode was on par. Absolutely loved it! I had the same reaction as Morgan to the Drummond elevator scene, I just burst out laughing.
