Thus a Spider I Become
One of Arachne’s two signature Noble Phantasms. Rather than embodying the sublime skill she possessed as a seamstress, this Noble Phantasm is the embodiment of the latter part of her legend, where Athena transformed her into a spider.
Reflecting that myth, Arachne is transformed from a beautiful but ordinary human woman into a halfway form, a monster possessing the form of a woman from the waist up and the body of a spider from the waist down. Rather than the form of a pure spider, it is this strange mesh instead, perhaps as a result of the similarity to the transformation of the Gorgon, Medusa.
In this form, Arachne’s strength and constitution are vastly increased, allowing her to perform far better in direct combat. However, at the same time, the possibility for hiding her identity or going unnoticed is removed completely. Furthermore, accessing this form also places strict limits on the performance of her other skills and Noble Phantasm. It is a tradeoff of physical might in exchange for drastically reduced utility.
This halfway form can be achieved in two ways. Firstly, Arachne may skip directly to the transformation and use this Noble Phantasm without delay. Secondly, if she wields her Monstrous Strength for too long a time and the transformation progresses past the point of no return, this Noble Phantasm will be activated automatically.
