Discussion thread: New 2025 Interview with Genocidologist, Dr. Dirk Moses

Hope everyone traveling is safe and enjoying some downtime. I'm grateful for so much this year: the safety and comfort I have, a dream job, and luckily my health. But I know it's come at a price that others have had to pay, and that there are billions who are not so lucky. So in a cunty little move for Indigenous History Month I thought we'd hook up again with Dr. Dirk Moses for a brand-new interview on humanitarian law, the crimes of atrocity we're witness to, and the genocides that will take generations to acknowledge.

So Mercedes and I were lucky to ask Dirk for updates on the academic and expert evaluations of what has been happening in Gaza since our chat in Spring 2024. We discuss his recent roundtable paper with dozens of genocide scholars, the recent proclamations from the UN, Human Rights Watch , and so much more.

If you haven't heard the first episode, start there to understand the context, history, and background of how Dr. Raphael Lemkin pioneered this term during the Holocaust, and how it is -- and isn't -- prosecuted. https://www.alieward.com/ologies/genocidology

These 2 episodes are here for you if you want a greater understanding of a heartbreaking situation, and we can discuss more in the comments below. Also if anyone is feeling like tossing a few dollars toward our friends Tasneem and Nidal, that link is here. https://chuffed.org/project/hand-of-salvation (Ologies has donated previously via their GoFundMe Link, but the fundraiser moved to Chuffed.)

Okay, thanks for listening and I promise we have a much lighter episode in the works for this Tuesday. So light, it's nearly weightless.

Sending hugs and such,

Alie Ward, your Father in Pod

Thank you so much- not only for making this follow-up, but for your honesty. In a world where media often equates nonbias with both-sidesism, it's nice to not be gaslit. Hearing you 3 intelligent people, having an objective conversation about what's actually happening, helped reassure me that I'm not losing my mind. Over the last couple years I've often wondered if this is how some Germans might have felt in 1941. Thinking how weird it is that everyone is acting normal. Again, thank you. Thank you so very much.
