Let Justice Be Done Ch. 63
Added 2021-10-14 12:32:10 +0000 UTCThe journey back to the Ice Crystal Palace was quiet.
Lady Eleen felt the atmosphere was heavy. While she knew how fae tend to act, she didn't think her friend, would be so...antagonistic to Lord Raguel and Lady Viviane.
Surely there were better ways to deliver the prophecy without sounding so cruel to them. Or...is she acting like so due to something she saw in her future relating to them?
Eleen tried to justify her friend's attitude to herself.
Viviane was thinking on the prophecy, her thoughts going in circle on how to avoid Raguel coming into harm.
But the prophecy said it would be something of his own doing? Viviane's eyes widened at the thought. Could it be like the servants in Phaedria's palace? There are... Viviane frowned. Slaves at the auctions. But they would be beings of all fantastical manner there. One item wouldn't be enough to cover however many auction slaves there will be.
While Viviane was thinking on how to deal with the coming auction, Raguel wasn't even thinking on the prophecy or the auction at all.
Rather his thoughts circled around the parting shot Phaedria said, as they were leaving.
"You know, the Winter Queen would be in a very generous mood to help you, if you consummate your marriage here in her realm. Why, a future betrothal would really entertain her enough to be on your side."
The words were followed by laughter, and Raguel felt the anger he had through out the meeting stay, rather than fizzle out when he left, like he expected.
"Lady Eleen?" He spoke.
"Ah! Y-Yes?" Eleen blinked in surprise at Raguel sudden breaking the silence.
"Out of curiosity, is there a way to speed up the appointed time for our meeting with Queen Mab?" Raguel asked.
"I, um, that is..." Lady Eleen was thrown back by the question. It's not something she had seen anyone ask or actually think try before.
"What are you going to do about the prophecy, Raguel?" Viviane asked, cutting into the topic.
"Nothing."
"Wait, what?" Eleen blinked at the reply.
"Are you serious?" Viviane didn't cry out, but she really wanted to. She settled for conveying her worry through their bond.
She got calmness and peace of mind in return, which just annoyed her.
"Vivi, the thing about prophecies is, you never know if your actions are working toward it or against it. If I do nothing and the prophecy happens anyway, then it was inevitable and worrying is pointless. If I do something and it happens anyways, or because of my actions, then it was always meant to happen, or it is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and worrying, in this case, is what made it happen.
"Basically, in the end worrying about prophecies is a waste of time, that should be better used to living. What does worry me is why we were given such a long waiting period." Raguel said.
"Because the Winter Queen favors you." Eleen said immediately, as if that fact was so very obvious.
"Viviane, what happens to those born--No. Conceived in the Snow World?" He asked.
"Those who are..." Viviane began to see what Raguel was thinking. "Lucky enough to be born here, are forever linked to this realm. They are empowered by it, invigorated with it, and will never die as long as this realm stands." She held her chin and look aside, careful to keep her expression neutral. "Those who are conceived within the Ice Crystal Palace are stronger and when born there, would receive a blessing by the Winter Queen."
"That's amazing." Eleen gasped. "So that's why she summoned you both here, even though it was your honeymoon. It was to reward you so kindly like that." She pouted, jealously obvious on her face, before she had a look of longing.
Then she turned to look at Viviane and Raguel, to see them looking at her. Viviane smiling politely, not wanting to voice her true thoughts. Raguel looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
Eleen blushed and looked away. She didn't know why Lord Raguel had that reaction to her words, but...she didn't want to appear as if they was saying she wished she was in Lady Viviane's place.
It just meant she'll have to work harder to be rewarded by the Winter Queen. And find a husband.
"Not everything is viewed the same way by everyone, Lady Eleen." Raguel said getting her attention again. "Just as not every blessing is seen as such. After all, what are enchantments or curses but the same type of magic seen in a different light?"
"There are functional differences between them." Viviane said in a neutral academic voice, but Raguel could see the beginnings of amusement from their bond.
"I'm being metaphorical, Viviane." Raugel said back with a mock scowl.
"I just thought to clarify. I wouldn't wish for my dear husband to appear the fool accidently. It would ruin your act when you do so intentionally." Viviane said covering her smile with an ice fan she just made. So beautiful it didn't appear as ice on first glance.
"Oh really~?" Raguel said, sending the feeling of tickling through their bond again.
Viviane didn't react, only smiling triumphantly.
"I fear not your touch any longer, husband. Your fingers have no power over me." Viviane smirked.
"What about my mouth?"
Eleen's face reddened, and Viviane look startled.
"Why I remembering it turning you many different shades." Raguel smirked. "From my words of course."
Viviane pouted as she had been had. Eleen's head just felt too heated being around these two.
"Lady Eleen?" Raguel spoke.
"Huh?"
"About my earlier question, what would result in Queen Mab calling our meeting at an earlier time?"
"Oh you don't get to take a victory and walk away like that." Viviane went and pinched Raguel's cheeks. He acted uncaring, focusing on the surprised and panicking Lady Eleen.
"Err, it's, um, something would have have to happen to get her attention, where she would have to deal with your meeting early, to get it out of the way." Eleen said.
"Like what?" Asked Raguel.
Eleen looked between the calm Raguel being pinched, and the annoyed Viviane doing the pinching. Seeing the atmosphere between them, and the look Viviane was giving her, as if Eleen should be on her side pinching Raguel's cheeks, not answering his question, Eleen was left more flustered.
"L-Like a disruption or something, big in the Snow World? I'm not sure!" Eleen shouted quickly.
"I see," Raguel grabbed Viviane's hand that was pinching it and kissed it, making her blush and stop as well. "Dear, if it's okay with Lady Eleen, how about we skip meeting other important figures here, and just head out and explore the Snow World?" He smirked.
The two fae looked at each other, Eleen was worried about her planned schedule being change, while Viviane wondered what chaos was brewing in her husband's head.
"Raguel, what are you planning?" Viviane said with a strained smile, hiding her worry.
"Oh nothing big, dear." Raguel gave a mischievous smile. "I'm just thinking I should go out there and be helpful and good to others."
