Here’s my dormitory diary entry for July.

I finished all of my training and am now working in production for real. The hard part has been animating cuts containing dynamic motion like hair or clothes fluttering in the wind. Where it really got hard though was drawing facial movement while accounting for said dynamic motion. I still don’t fully understand it yet, but I’m trying my best to learn!

Change of subject, but I saw a movie called Inu-Ou the other day. My quick review is that the animation is amazing! I can’t really explain it with words (I’ve never been good with those anyway), but it was a really great film. All of the scenes in the movie were fantastic, but one that stuck with me in particular was when the camera zoomed in on the protagonist’s mouth as he was playing a lute while chanting. Watching the movie made me so much more motivated to animate. I’ll work on a film like that, too…one day.

7月の寮生日記を投稿します。

研修が一通り終わり、現在本番の仕事をやらせていただいてます。中でも難しかったのがなびきのカットです。髪と服がなびくカットだったのですが、顔が動きながらのなびきに特に苦戦しました。まだまだなびきについて理解しきれていないので、もっと勉強しようと思います！

話は変わりますが、このあいだ映画『犬王』を観てきました。一言で表すとアニメーション最高！って感じでした。（語彙力が無い！）言葉でうまく説明できないのですが、とてもとても良かったです。この映画、全てのシーンが本当に素晴らしいのですが、特に印象に残ったのは主人公が琵琶で弾き語る際に口元がアップになるシーンです。映画を観て、アニメーションに対してのやる気が高まりました。いつか自分も…。

今月も頑張ります！
