Reaction to The Haunting of Hill House S1E5

Comments

The main story isn't so much why Nelly Killed herself. It is why the mom did it. The show moves slow, there's a lot to pay attention to. There was a point when Nelly was dancing in the house and they showed her family, but they also showed the Hills watching her dance as well, including the man with the "Big Boy Hat". There's so much in this show that you can miss if you're not paying attention. You mentioned being annoyed that they showed things from the past. But it is all connected. You need to see the past to know as much of what you can about everything that happened. If that makes sense. This show is very poetic, and flows into itself, with a driving force. I think you probably would have liked it more if it hadn't been so long since you've seen the first two episodes.

A lot of what you're seeing is of course from each person's point of view. We saw that with Luke, he said he wasn't on drugs, but when we see it from Steven's point of view it s seemed that he was because he was feeling what Nelly was feeling. The checkbook Theo was talking about with her brother-in-law, was they said his wife ( I think) found the checkbook, and she didn't know why it was there. And it was because he took the money. So, when Theo said make something else up that would hurt less, like another family. It was because we know that she didn't want anyone to take Steve's money from the book sales. Yes, that guy you saw was the older version of the dad. Each person does get their own episode, so chill, and it should all make sense. Some scenes we do see more than once as we're seeing it from another person's point of view. Soon, you will get the dad's episode, as well as the mom's episode. I think it was the first episode we see that before Nelly goes to the house, she calls everyone, and they didn't respond. She only got a hold of her dad, and she spoke to him. They showed when each person or at least the ones that she called, missed the call. That will also come back later. Don't focus so much on what you've missed or what you don't remember. Just take in what you can at face value. What is shown to you in the episode that you're on. What doesn't make sense in the end, you can ask questions, or look some things up for clarification.
