Narcos S1 E1 Full reaction

It's true, specially for the first episodes. Wagner Moura's Colombian accent is wack to say the least in the beginning. But it's a show made by Netflix to appeal to a global market and hence the importance of having a leading actor like Wagner Moura. We have Andre Parra's version of Pablo that gets the accent perfectly, but the acting is subpar to say the least when compared to Moura's.

wack colombian accents on most of the main characters in this because for some reason they gave all the big colombian roles to non colombians, go figure

Apparently revisionist history is somehow of a trend worldwide, even the holocaust being called into question these days. I would actually like to sit down with someone who actually thinks back then USA wasn't meddling in other countries affairs. I'd say today the American foreign diplomacy is more balanced and moderate than during the cold war. We literally had US-sponsored far-right military dictatorships all over South and Central America. The case of Chile was particularly fcked up. The Chileans just had an election that elected a socialist President (Salvador Allende) through democratic means. The dude wasn't a puppet of Moscow, he was a nationalist leftist socialist with libertarian views. The US bombed the Presidential Palace with him inside, murdered him. They replaced him with General Pinochet, this dude would end up killing 30 thousand people, torturing hundreds of thousands and he was also a pedophile, that was a similar case to Strossner, the Paraguayan dictator, who as also a psycho murderer, corrupt and pedophile, but very important for the US foreign policy. And that's just the case of two countries. In Brazil during our own military the dictatorship we had something called Operation Condor, which was a CIA operation to assassinate the key socialist figures in my country, including the former President João Goulart who was literally assassinated by the CIA while on exile, same as the Central Comitte for the Brazilian Communist Party who was entirely assassinated. I could go on forever, it wouldn't even fit in a Patreon comment. It's nothing more than batshit insane to say the United States represent freedom unless only for it's own citizens and interests and even so would not be as outrageous as someone saying the US didn't interfere in other countries affairs in the past. This show captivates since the beginning since the repercussion for these events are so huge and historical that the small and invisible gears of this historical process is unknown for most, at least it was for me. This series was based specially in the book published by Steve Murphy(the blonde DEA guy), which is considered one of the best books on the cocaine trade in Colombia, but it's a book defined by the personalistic views of Steve Murphy on the issues happenning, but that doesn't mean the book is trash, it's just the author is a cop and not an academic writer. What impressed me the most in Narcos was the historical accuracy of some events portrayed there, some of these stuff can be very familiar to South Americans, more so to Hispanic South Americans than to Brazilians anyway, but some stuff like the Communist guerrilla made by college kids and intellectuals is something that happened pretty much all South America and that back then used to be what got the US worried. And in the end we see this kids were no threat at all compared to the gangsters that would be their future opponents. It's cool to know you'll get back to this show eventually, I know for a fact you will like it a lot. Next episodes! PS: When I'm criticizing the US foreign policy, please don't take this as a personal attack or think I'm blaming civilians and private citizens for the actions of sections of the US goverment, but it's difficult to discuss South American history without touching on these subjects.
