Enchantments, tierlist changes and you. A filter tiering rework.

New league is hitting soon and that means a new filter as well!

Over the past weeks I've been brewing up quite a few changes and I feel like it's a good evening to share those. If you're curious how it'll affect you: grab something hot to drink and enjoy the read.

This post focuses specifically on tierlists. There's a lot more changes coming up, but these ones are major enough to warrant a detailed post.

The changes come in 3 flavours:

Framework improvements

Usually code-reworks are not very exciting for the user, but in this case it actually has a massive effect!

Previously every tier-list used to have it's own thresholds that an item needed to exceed in order to reach a certain tier.  This threshold was calculated using a static part, divine orb price, divine orb influence and global divine orb influence. On top of that there were some enrichment and aspect specific... ouph.

If all of this sounds confusing - it was - even for me. I took a long step back, crunched numbers and came up with a much simpler, much more maintainable system.

I interpolated some the curves, took a look at what's working, built new models and ran simulations.

In the end I ended up with 3 distinct systems:

Now the numbers are not very that different from the old system.

The strength of this setup comes from being much easier to simulate, adjust and by being hand-tailored around certain key numbers.

For instance the number 14.9 ensures that every 15c currency is a T2 drop. These 0.1 and 0.9 numbers are specifically designed in consideration with anomalies that the economy player behaviour and poe.ninja presents.

I don't want to bore you with numbers, poke me on discord if you wanna know more :)

This whole reworks comes with a full code overhaul as well!

There's a lot of other improvements like a full aspect rework and new safety checks, but we have a lot of other improvements to cover!

Large Scale Reworks

These reworks affect just one tier-list, but they're big.

Divination cards and uniques have a received a full review and I've managed to improve a lot of those edge cases that have bothering me before!

For instance I can now calculate the rewards of (many more) divination cards, check their prices and compare those prices to the div card. This is really helpful to detect price fixers and it resulted in a couple dozen of tiering changes that were all super positive.

Incubator Tiering has been completely revamped and acted as a testing ground for the new features and code! This one is already live and I feel like it's much better than the old setup.

Unique Tiering now is much better at handling a whole bunch of different exotic scenarios. Uniques that only have boss drops, uniques that have no boss drops, uniques where the cheapest and most expensive items have huge price differences all received improvements to their tiering and the result looks promising.

On top of that all unique aspects have been reviewed (with huge help from Mellontoss from the filterblade team) and this is improving the tiering once again

New Features

This is a juicy one exile!

Using the power of the new system, I've also built up and integrated 3 new tierlists into the upcoming affliction filter:

Helmet Enchantment Tiering

This has been a long time coming, but it's finally here.

Using combined data from poe.db and poe.ninja, manual testing and the new framework the upcoming update will include an economy-updated prototype helmet enchantment tiering.

Now the data is not clean and rich enough to include any kind of itemlevel/basetype filtering, but if you'll find one of those juicy expensive enchants - your filter will inform you! Of course you can adjust all of that on FilterBlade as well.

Full disclosure: I'm quite a bit afraid of potential feedback loops from that one, so I'll be limiting it to two high tiers on release.

Atlas Memory Tiering

Huge shoutout to Rasmus (poe.ninja author) for adding the data.

Long story short. All those Einhar memories will make a satisfying SHWING sound.

Sanctum Unique Relic Tiering

This is one is nothing too exciting, but still - next update will also tier all your sanctum relics.

I hope you enjoyed this update.

Keep eyes open for more updates over the coming days!

I heard a new style is coming!

Best Regards,

NeverSink

At least you don't need to need to worry about the feedback loops anymore?

Wow! That is an incredible amount of work completed! Thank you to the whole team!
