Who can takeJulie Rowe and her beliefs seriously? Let's see. Who can take THIS seriously? According to Joseph Smith, he was seventeen years of age when an angel of God named Moroni appeared to him and said that a collection of ancient writings was buried in a nearby hill in present-day Wayne County, New York, engraved on golden plates by ancient prophets. The writings were said to describe a people whom God had led from Jerusalem to the Western hemisphere 600 years before Jesus' birth. "Anthropologists and archaeologists, including some Mormons and former Mormons, have discovered little to support the existence of [Book of Mormon] civilizations. Over a period of 150 years, as scholars have seriously studied Native American cultures and prehistory, evidence of a Christian civilization in the Americas has eluded the specialists... These [Mesoamerican] cultures lack any trace of Hebrew or Egyptian writing, metallurgy, or the Old World domesticated animals and plants described in the Book of Mormon."

I wish I had Lauren and Dr. John back in 2015 when I watched my friend go into a fearful frenzy after following Julie. I’m sorry about your friend Lauren. It’s worrisome. Thanks for shining the light on what’s going on and I am secretly grateful my thoughts that I’ve had about Julie for years have some validity after hearing your perceptions. When so many others were embracing her, I couldn’t get past her grandiosity. I wouldn’t perform any surgery on her if I knew she was saying these things. It was just an interesting paradox that struck me as I was listening to this. I actually think that Lauren being LDS is a positive in the coverage of this crime bc of all the background knowledge/cultural awareness she has about the LDS community. I find Lauren to be overall very fair and objective about the Mormon church. I did not mean to insult, just wanted to share an outside opinion from someone who is not religious. For the record I also think it's crazy that some Christians believe in Noah's arc being literal or that the world is only thousands of years old according to the bible. You state: “Being a Mormon requires suspension of critical thinking IMO.” Here’s some critical thinking: Is it possible that people who adhere to religion hold different beliefs that occur on a broad continuum of different perspectives? For example: in the Mormon church, not every single person believes the same things about Joseph Smith or how the church began. In some cases—people find value in the community, and their religious heritage, without clinging to every single tenant of a religion. You seem to think that everyone who is Mormon believes the same thing, and that we are dogmatic about beliefs. It would be similar to thinking all Muslims are terrorists, when in fact this isn’t true, and there is a wide array of Muslim beliefs. I hope you can appreciate that there is a wide divergence in individuals beliefs in each individual’s approach to their religion. If others can laugh at some of the things Julie Rowe does and says, I’m not sure why I’m not allowed to as well.

I respect and appreciate all of the insight from both Lauren and John and I am a huge fan of their content. BUT it is interesting to hear Lauren laughing/giggling at how crazy & out there Julie Rowe's beliefs are while she is LDS. The way Lauren views Julie's beliefs is the way that many nonreligious people view anyone who believes in a mainstream religion's beliefs. Being a Mormon requires suspension of critical thinking IMO. For instance, LDS people believe Joseph Smith used seer stones after an angel visited him to write the book of Mormon. That sounds as crazy to me as portals. I am not trying to insult Lauren or anyone else who is LDS, I just wanted to point out the parallel. All religious beliefs sound INSANE to those not in the group. I think Julie Rowe and the Mormon church are both batshit crazy myself but I respect everyone's right to believe in what they want. Where Julie Rowe is more of a menace is her scamming of these people who are obviously prone to fantastical thinking since they are mormons. I'm also obsessed with the theronos case. Have you listened to Tyler Shultz's podcast book? It's really good (only available on audible). It an amazing case and would be great one for Dr John to give us his opinion on - so many characters to analyse. As John Carreyrou said, I don't think this started off being a massive fraud, I think Elizabeth initially wanted it to work and was committed to the good cause but it snowballed and one cover up had to cover up another cover up and it ended up being this multi billion dollar fraud, can't wait for the outcome of the trial. I don't think it will work blaming Sunny though but with connections I'm guessing she'll walk off with some kind of deal. The Forbes guy (name forgotten) was the last witness on the prosecution and his evidence was good. Are you getting the trial updates from John Carreyou's podcast?

Two things are perfectly clear: 1) Julie is horrible at math 2) Julie has no idea what a near death experience actually is, that it's a clinical state, is documented in your health record, and includes clinical death from which you may not return. They resuscitate you, which can include AED shocks to restart your heart. If the near death experience (NDE) is not diagnosed clinically, than in Julie's case it's just more traveling. She can think she had one, but without resuscitation, you just die.
