[News] Milestones + Suggestions?

Hello everyone, Corintio here!

I see a lot of new faces here and I want to thank you all for your support!
I hope you enjoy your stay, and we'll do our best to live up to expectations.

As I usually do at the start of each month, today I wanted to talk about what we plan for the next release, and the short answer is: Story content. The long answer is:

Animations:
Sergey improved the intro fighting animations, which should be updated soon. He has also started to work on a new cutscene.
Gurpreet is still not feeling very well, and he's taking this month off to recover.

Quests:
We have a big dialogue already recorded between Kalyskah and Amara, and then Laver. We also already have all the necessary audios to work on a massage scene that can end with a happy ending. This month we plan on working to see up to where we can implement this content, and also review the dozens of pages that our writers have done to add more life to the temple.

Now the speed at which we can add story content is highly dependent on two factors: Our budget for voice acting and whether this content will or will not have a fancy cutscene.
The next three scripts we have recorded will require fancy camera work to look as we envision them. One is an erotic scene, and the other two are philosophical conversations between Kalyskah and her closest friends. We want these conversations to have an impact and mean something special. So I can't guarantee we'll have all three done by the next month, but we can assure you that we'll work as fast as we can so at least one of the three can be delivered properly.

Technical:
Bug fixes and enhancements are always solved when we can find them, Henri has been working on a whole new quest system that should speed up the game's development process, and after he's done, he'll improve our NPC Creator tools so we can have more different-looking characters.
Ricardo has been moving forward with the blockouts of the prologue's main town, and soon, I'll have some very exciting pictures to share!
The next update should also count with a new area below the temple for you to find and pet Gremmnoch before the events of version 0.19. And talking about petting animals, eventually, we'll work on animations so Kalyskah can pet almost every animal she finds. I know, that's a very important feature!

Goal:
The plan is to try our best to finish the prologue by the end of the year so we can reintroduce the old quests, and so far, at least on the writing side, things are very promising. On the technical side, we want to do it right. Exactly to avoid all the crunching that rendered our game almost unplayable for most players past version 0.19. But as our budget grows, we might be able to hire some freelancers to help with the most repetitive work like "fixing the mesh LODs" or "Finding which blueprints have things programmed on the tick", etc. So being optimistic, the tendency is that as the game gets bigger, it will also grow faster.

Suggestions?
As you can see, adding story content to a 3d game with cutscenes and voice acting is a lot of work, depending on how complex we want things to be. Tweaking mechanics and adding side content, not as much. So now I ask you what could be nice to have and what is it that excites you the most about our game, so we can have a compass on which direction we should go!

Again, thank you very much for your support!

Feel free to join our discord, and let us know if you have any questions!

That's a good idea for things we can implement once we start introducing new sword techniques!

Good ideas, thanks!

Ah, i will have to explore the the site and keep an eye out for a donation section. Regarding the combat, at the moment, I'd suggest making block a little more reactive. I would also suggested blending melee and magic Combat more seamlessly. For example, being able to chain telekinesis or dark descending together with a sword combo, fire off a few arrows and immediately follow up with swarm fist (ok, I haven't tried the last one yet). Since Laver is Kalyskah's sword teacher and Kaly is teaching him magic, he could give you a tutorial on how to blend melee and magic techniques together.

It being an open world game random events and side quests are always welcome (as long as they make sense). For example - fixing your clothes requires that special silk which you go fetch. The bandits as well. Maybe you can explore that a bit more. Something like you encounters bandits (or wolves) attacking someone, decides to help and that person becomes a friend and has other events/quests related to them because they survived thanks to Kaly. Something to have in mind would be reducing the amount (or changing the logic) of dropped equipment. Taking a sword from almost every bandit can fill the inventory fast.

What do you think we could improve on the combat? Now for donations, I think it's possible to tip on Patreon without linking it to a tier. I could say that we could think of something for a 100 USD tier and so on, but the truth is that given our current budget and the stress of rebuilding the game world, it would be hard for the team to have the time to work on something customised other than what we can offer on the Nightstalker tier. And the pledge on the Nighthunter tier is what we need to pay at least a bit so a freelancer can help us. Wouldn't be fair to give someone the expectation.

Kalyskah Team

Outside of combat, I enjoy the story and lore. If possible, I'd suggest a donation section on patreon, for people who want to add a little more to the budget whenever they can, without doing a bigger pledge jump per tier.
