[Question] What can a vampire buy at a tavern?
Added 2019-10-18 06:46:22 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
We are working on a quest where basically Kalyskah will go to a tavern/inn and look for information about her blood gem. She will learn that she will also gonna be able to find work there, either as an waitress or courtesan.
But then we thought: What can she do with that money? Especially at the tavern.
Drink alcohol?
She is a vampire, she doesn't drink or eat normal food... To get her drunk she would probably need to drink the blood of a drunken person (Which can be a quite funny quest for the future).
Buy Food?
Same as above...
Buy Information?
That's an interesting idea that Keana, our writer, came up with. But then there is the problem that it would be one helpful information per quest. Which wouldn't make it very frequent.
So well, let's hear what you have in mind to help us!

I got another idea its from Dragons Dogma there are stones for teleports so you can use them to quick travel the place or to escape from dungeons. There are also some stones you can set them freely everywhere on the map so you can teleport to this place if you want.
2019-10-29 20:40:19 +0000 UTCYou nailed the plot so damn well!! That's exactly what's going on. She was forgotten, she knows nothing about the world and so many time passed since she last walked on earth that she doesn't even know for sure if it's worth to go after answers about what happened to her temple. The only thing left for Kaly is to blend into society and find her new place on this world. That's were the faction system will come in =D

2019-10-21 22:31:57 +0000 UTCThere's this feeling that I could write an essay, but I will stick to the first idea that popped in. I feel like you should be able to build up relationships with the owner or servers at the tavern, which could make buying information and/or weapons cheaper (Someone had already mentioned fencing stolen items, and I think that is pretty solid). Admittingly, I got fixated on the relationship aspect instead of the money, which you had asked, so my addition to that is minimal. However, maybe as a side quest, depending on story decisions and your relationship, a patron could openly accuse the protagonist of being a vampire (maybe drunken outrage, or just looking for a lost person), and the owner could stick up for you or could turn on you.

2019-10-19 16:58:07 +0000 UTCClassic vampires never drink.... wine... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMBdUzv_yjk

2019-10-19 16:15:17 +0000 UTCRed Wine, the tingling smell and alcoholic contents and red color would make it reminiscent enough of blood to be a viable beverage for a vampire or demon to enjoy. Of course vampires wouldn't need human food, but they'd still enjoy the taste of certain meats and fruits I'd assume.

2019-10-19 15:35:41 +0000 UTCHow about you use the tavern like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines used The Asylum (if you played that). Quest keep backtracking you to that club because questgivers hang out there and you can refresh your bloodpool with the patrons.

2019-10-19 01:43:33 +0000 UTCI think some people mean what comes to my mind first, its a tavern/inn so the owner hear lots of conversations/rumors/legends so you can buy informations for locations of some legendary gear, locations for some hidden bosses and so on, something like that. The owner of the inn could also work as a person you can sell some stolen stuff, if you wanna implement stealing. Another idea would be minigames like card games, darts, some other things like in "Fable 2" personally I played hours of this minigames XD. You could buy weakpoints of monsters/bosses for some bonusses like 5% more dmg against or more def etc. An other option is to buy some furniture, decor or only plans for something like that, like beds, cabinets, carpets, etc. so you can individualize your home or to expand your property, to upgrade your home and you could collect materials to craft the plans or could buy some of them by the owner. These are my spontaneous ideas, many of them come from other games ! Hope it helps you ^^
2019-10-18 21:17:41 +0000 UTCThere is such a thing as a "hint" and they are different. For example, to get a hint, in some difficult quest you need not to go to the menu, as in most games, but to earn it. Marker on the map (missions, treasures or something else), tips for defeating the boss or a very complex mob. In short - a hint for the job. Do not want hints, you can not work.

2019-10-18 18:13:42 +0000 UTCWe are working on a kinda funny thing: Kalyskah is used to sleep on coffins, so when she have to sleep on a bed, she actually goes under the bed! xD

2019-10-18 16:40:34 +0000 UTCWe will have a map system in the future... hmm.. going to taverns to buy different map pices that maybe can show some icons of places of interest is actualy a good idea!

2019-10-18 16:38:40 +0000 UTCThe potions of the game are blood bags that you can get with a nurse

2019-10-18 16:38:20 +0000 UTChmmmm I think this wouldn't work. It would reveal her supernatural nature if people had to prepare meals with blood

2019-10-18 16:37:55 +0000 UTCohhh get other people drunk so she can get drunken herself! Great idea!

2019-10-18 16:37:14 +0000 UTCI can't help but think of Skyrim here, she could hear rumors and or find work, you guys could implement a sleep system of some kind. Some random Quests could originate or tie into the tavern. I know there is issues with eating or and or drinking at a tavern but it could be implemented even if it is a useless function, but back to skyrim, I don't ever remember going to an inn so I could eat and drink, it was purely for the sleep function or for work/rumors. Food didnt really do a hole lot then for the PC anyways. Food could just have no effect or a negative effect (garlicky food) in this particular use case. I know I would go for the atmpsphere as well! Now that I think of it, alot of the NSFW and prostitute mods in Skyrim used the Inn's heavily, Just my thoughts on the matter

2019-10-18 15:16:26 +0000 UTCGet a room to do various private things; or indeed pay for a courtesan herself. She could also still buy food or drink for other people.

2019-10-18 12:59:35 +0000 UTCListen the bar has all sorts of people you can take to the bedroom for some fun (or eat them) so do that.

2019-10-18 11:14:21 +0000 UTCAnother idea is maybe she can purchase maps of different locations. So if you decided to implement a map system. She can at least know where she is going. Another idea is a map for dungeons that have hidden vampiric relics that she can use to help in her journey.

2019-10-18 10:10:05 +0000 UTCAlso I wanted to add armor and set pieces to her outfit. Or maybe special materials that she can use for crafting. I think paying for sex is a dumb idea because one she a vampire and can have sex with anyone if she wanted. So paying for it would be a waste of money.
FreshRevenge
2019-10-18 10:07:39 +0000 UTCWell I would want to buy weapons, I mean I know I can loot enemies but maybe some taverns have access to the rare daggers and swords etc. Because maybe they have some sort of smuggling operation of sorts, so they use the tavern as a cover. But since she is a vampire she can seduce the owner to getting a look at these rare merchandise and get a discount too.

2019-10-18 09:58:13 +0000 UTCI got a idea for food maybe a broth or soup like meal with rare-medium rare meats in it so she gets some blood and vitamins(vitamins give xp or stat boosts for fights)

2019-10-18 08:00:05 +0000 UTCWork for a room at the Tav, Buy potions etc, Maybe the Tav customers have special things they'd sell her exclusive to them.
