[Poll] About Voice acting process
Added 2019-08-02 20:16:43 +0000 UTCHello everyone, this is another poll that I'm making to plan the month of august and final tunes on version 0.8.
We have a few quests already written down, but they don't have voice acting yet. Our budget is a little tight since we are investing more in character, quests and level design this month and I'm not sure it's worth to hold them back until we add the voice lines, so here is the question:
Should we add those quests and dialogues without sound for now, and then slowly add voice-lines to them, or do you think it will be a better experience to hold the quests so when you play them, you will be able to listen to the character's voices?
Because if we add the quests without the voiceover, later you will probably need to play them again to have a better experience. But if you don't mind that, we can push the development of new quests forward and later patch the voice acting.
Another point on we adding the quests before adding the audios, is that you can play them, see if there is any plot-hole or if anything should be reworded before we go through the process of recording, editing and programming the audio on the engine.

That's how I (Corintio) think as well. The problem is that in patreon we need to keep things as steady as possible so people will aways have something worth of their pledge every month.. It drives me a little crazy with deadlines but it also gives motivation to boost production as quick as possible. The problem is that our roof is our budget and time, and the voice acting needs a lot of tweaks and edits before it gets ready to be put on game. And at least until we add more life to the surface world, I think it's worth to invest this same amount of time and money on things like character and level design + give an extra to our writers so they can keep working steadily.

2019-08-03 07:23:49 +0000 UTChmm you actually made a pretty valid point! Sometimes I (Corintio) think I worry to much about making things 'final' before showing it to anyone.. I might take your advice to think about if weather we should or should not start to test some ideas that might not be on the final game. =)
